In 2014 it was definitively one car limit for move to Luxembourg. Am pretty sure it is the same limit for DE, and i suspect for the EU.

Did you have any issues with the seat belts?
No. Part of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with NATO countries covers military/civilians going over on official orders so zero modifications to any vehicle were necessary. There are likely different rules for just importing a vehicle on your own. Good luck.

I had tried but was told I need to ask for it in the country where I would be taking the car. I eventually got it through a dealer in my destination country. I also had to pay for it!

Thank you for the good info in this thread.
Those of you who brought US cars to Europe, do you have any recommendations in general to make it go smoothly?
Also, insurance is REALLY HIGH because I don't have history there.
Any recs for shipping or insurance?

Where in Europe are you importing it to? What's the final destination?
You can get credit for your foreign insurance history and the years you've been driving.
You can request a DMV report online and also request your insurance history from your provider(s)..

Homologation again depends on where you're registering your car.
Shipping, 20 ft container.

Germany.

Do you know which insurance companies are open to that? I had one tell me they will give me credit that I haven't had accident in 5 years, even though it's been a multiple of that in the US, they wouldn't do more

(not to mention I need a German driver's license, which I can't get for a couple more months - hopefully this times well with shipping the car)
