LED vs standard Bi-Xenon

In America the Xenons.are legally the maximum brightness you are allowed. There is no benefit to the LEDs. The focusing and cut off of the Xenon is excellent. In Europe, these LEDs go a lot brighter, not in the US.
Also the Xenon running lights, which is a strip of LEDs looks much better on the front of the car - it reenforces the 'squat, low' look of the car. The LEDs have just four dots on the headlights which is the most boring LED pattern I have seen on any car.
Basically for LED's you are paying a lot of money with very little gain and I think a worse visual look. Save your money. Get leather wrapped sun visors and steering wheel column instead, you will actually notice these.... :-)

So what is visible on the bumper where the DRL strip is for the non-LED cars?

I love my LEDs. Mainly got them for the cool halo DRL function. I don't find them any better than my past bi-xenons. But I like the whiter light quality. Dynamic cornering is great. As is the automatic high beam function. I also like the consistency of all the 991's exterior being LEDs.
I got LEDs in black on my TT really just for the cool halo effect when I have the daytime running lights on. They are pricey but man do they look good.

I've been running Xenons since available. They don't last forever. May not matter to most P-Car owners, but 50k miles is pushing it. The mechanics to swivel and shutter high beams do fail. I think they weigh more with the large transformer and finally, they use more current which means more gas.
Save the planet and buy the way cool LEDs. (Full disclosure, I went for LEDs in black)

Like you, I was on the fence, went back and forth about which option looked better, is it worth the extra $$$, etc. In the end, I am very happy with the decision to get the LED in black.
