Default license plates

Hi Everyone--

I am sure there is a reason for hiding license plates on pictures/posts---but I admit I do not know why personally?

Cheers

License tags are tied to peoples' home/personal addresses. That's my reason anyway...

Very good reason not to post your plate--

Of course they're tied to someone's name and address and are openly exposed to the public. However, easily getting the name and address associated with a tag is an entirely different matter!

But people can see your plate in any parking lot or on the road so I don't see much difference. I've never worried about it.

Store clerks see my drivers license all the time when I buy things, but I'm not going to post a copy of it on the Internet...

Not really that hard. I have a buddy who buys/sells motorcycles, cars and trucks all the time. A $50 "tip" to the right person gets him all the info that he needs.

It's silly really - unless of course you take them off the car while you drive around town...

I dont get it either. You drive around all day for everyone to see. What difference is it for a stranger driving behind you are a stranger on the forum.

Makes no sense.

Drivers license doesn't equal a license plate, quite a far stretch there.

Many states have time limitations before requiring vehicle be registered in said state. No need to provide incriminating evidence with big brother keeping an eye on things. T

On the street you are 1 among many who know little or nothing about you. On a forum a poster who shows his license plate provides easy association of that license plate to many statements/posts made over time. Mining that data (a technical term) can generate lots of interesting information.
