Default 991 Targa - Metallic Rattle in Headliner Under Rollbar

There's a separate thread about rattles which refers to the plastic trim bar that spans the area behind the back seats - that one can be remedied by padding with the fuzzy side of velcro.

The problem I am having is not that. It's a more metallic sounding rattle which seems to come from the headliner under the rollbar.

It's normally quiet, but it makes a hell of a racket if traversing textured pavement (like asphalt.) It is super annoying.

I took it to the dealer and they ended up squirting a bunch of grease inside the plastic trim piece which wasn't even the source of the problem, so it looks like I'm on my own for fixing this.

Has anyone else seen this in their Targa and if so, how did you fix it?

To be a bit more specific - I really think the problem is inside the Alcantera trim for the rollbar, but I don't know how to safely remove it. Anyone know how?

Search is NOT my friend, and I'm not a moron.

I searched for "rollbar rattle" and the only relevant thread that came up is the one I already mentioned which is NOT about the rollbar, rather the plastic trim piece which is a different issue altogether.

To update, for future searchers:

The root cause was twofold:

1. A plastic channel for one of the trim clips that was loose in the Alcantera headliner.
2. One corner of the headliner which, when clipped, still resonated and rattled when tapped. Dealer fixed with padding.
