adaptive cruise control and rush hour
I've done a forum search, but had difficulty finding posts that address my specific question. I'm interested in ordering adaptive cruise control/PAS on a new C2S in a month or so.
1-Can those with adaptive cruise control please comment on how well the system worked in heavy traffic, i.e. stop and go/15 mph rush hour traffic.
I'm not that interested in the ACC/PAS for regular highway driving, mainly for the total of 60-80 minutes of stop and go/15mph rush hour traffic that I endure daily.
2-Can those with the ACC/PAS and a radar detector please comment on what ACC/PAS does to your radar detector? Is your radar useless, are there false alarms from the ACC/PAS?
(I'm thinking I might use ACC/PAS for rush hour traffic only and turn it off for regular highway driving if will mess up my radar detector.

I can comment only on the radar detector issue. Don't have ACC/PAS. All the other cars with ACC totally screw up my Escort Redline on K Band. Some local police still use K Band around here, so I have to have it. I think your idea of using the ACC in heavy traffic (if it works well enough) and disabling it for highway use will at least eliminate any interference from your own car. And, you certainly don't need the radar detector on in heavy traffic.

Just being considerate.

Thanks for that. Too bad this feature is becoming quite common these days. Hopefully someone who produces radar detectors will come up with a solution...

Works well in heavy traffic. If traffic is stop and go, however, it will not automatically move your Porsche away from a stop if the stop is more than a second or so. Although it will slow your car to a stop if the car ahead of you slows to a stop, it won't stop automatically if you approach an already stationary vehicle.

If you get PAS, you don't get the standard cruise control functionality, correct?

Unfortunately this would make ACC much less useful for me as its the stop and good traffic that really annoys me, as I can deal with driving in heavy traffic at only 40 MPH.

Adaptive cruise control does not set off radar detectors!
I have not owned a car with out it for 4 years and would not live without it.
Also, adaptive cruise control can be disabled to basic cruise control if you chose too.
For slow rush hour traffic it is perfect, just set and forget it. If traffic stops, car stops,, just tap gas pedal and it resumes. you can literally forget the brake pedal!

I'm not much of a fan of ACC in stop and go in town. When resuming speed it tends to accelerate too quickly in those circumstances, it responds slowly and abruptly to vehicles cutting in front and keeps too large a distance between you and the car in front, encouraging cars to cut you off. I like it best in light traffic on highways (although it does work well in heavy traffic) and going through speed trap areas.

Thank you Karl and Thomnellie for those additional insights. Those extra details really help with deciding whether or not to spec ACC/PAS.
Karl, one more question. Are you sure ACC doesn't set off radar detectors in other cars or just in your car? My radar goes off frequently as I get close to many late model Mercedes, BMW, Audi cars, which I'm sure is from a similar system in those high-end cars.

Valentine One
I had the same problem with my Valentine One radar detectors and adaptive cruise control in other cars, setting off my radar detector. I sent both of my Valentine Ones back to the factory and had them updated - problem solved!!! My older unit cost $260 to upgrade and my newer unit was only $65! I am very happy with the results!!! If you have a Valentine One - bite the bullet and upgrade now!
