Melting Windshield Seal?

Melting Windshield Seal?
i came across it while washing/drying my car this morning. as the title states, a portion (top left) of the seal that is underneath/around the windshield is melting. yes, it actually is in a semi-gunky/soft state which actually leaves residue on your finger or towel when touching it. i also noticed that a couple of owners were complaining of the same thing over at 6speedonline. maybe it's the hot weather?
any owners here experience such?
and yes, i plan to bring it to my dealer's attention.
2013 991 Carrera S with 16.8k miles.

Melting Windshield Seal?
Probably was replaced at some point and installer overdid it on sealer or something. From the factory, there is a gap there. Nothing filling it up.
There is actually a black rubber seal in the gap which must be there to channel water.

^ thank you. what i found interesting is that one of the other owners had the same problem and whose windshield had never been replaced. i'm the second owner of my car (CPO) so that's another story. i do see what you mean about "nothing filling it up" other than the rubber seal to channel water.

Thanks for checking yours, I bet others out there have it too.
The dealer took pictures and submitted them to some higher authority, as of last week the dealer had not heard anything back. Their response to me was that Porsche doesn't automatically warranty replace the windshield because you know, the damage might have been caused by the owner or some agent/substance that caused the damage. Good grief.
challenge....go out and check your windshields, especially those owners who live in the hotter climates.

I have a 2013 Boxster with the same issue. Dealer cleaned it last week but it is back. I'm in TX. The car does not sit outside very often. I am the only owner. It only started this summer so it took 3 years for it to happen. I reported it again and will take the car in this week for regular maintenance and see what they say.

I surely have not but I have no way of knowing that the previous owner didn't. Regardless, it's more than likely that if it were used it would've affected more than just a small segment of the entire windshield seal.

I am the only owner.
2013 Boxster (bought 8/2012) 31,000 miles
I have never raced and never used any rubber removing product. I have posted my issue on the other 2 Porsche related forums and a few are reporting the issue also. Not sure if anyone here are also there so I can't get an exact count.
Also, dealer cleaned it twice for me and said Porsche said no to replacing the windshield. At this point, we need to open a 'case' with PCNA and then each of us can reference that case. I asked the dealer who talked to the Porsche rep and the rep name and I got nothing even after a few attempts. This is crazy. Any time I deal with the dealer on repeating issues, I get BS back from them even when I deal with the most experienced person. It's almost like I am insulting them when I can't get issues resolved.

wow, that is bad....remember how both Ferraris and Mercedes had 'sticky buttons' from degradation over time on late 90's into early 2000 cars? Looks like a similar problem. You'll need to push on that one and/or file a complaint with NHTSA if they deny, and get everyone else to file with NHTSA as well. That's one way to get a recall going....
