FVD Brombacher – BRAND NEW TO THE US ! FusionDock® for iPhone® 5 /5 S / 6 for the 991

Guys- the only way that you will be able to display and possibly control iPhone apps via PCM screen in our 991's is to incorporate an interface from manufacturer like Alpine or NAV-TV into the PCM wiring. The only solutions I've ever come across that will allow this level of integration require cracking-open the PCM box and running additional input wires to the board. Totally doable, but not something most 991 owners would want to DIY.
While I really do like the look of this product, the fact that it covers nearly all of the screen while docked is a non-starter for me. I too use WAZE extensively.

I 100% get asking to control apps on the PCM screen is a whole other setup. I am just saying not having access to the phones screen is what killed it for me. Sounds like you are in the same boat.

Granted, this might not work for everyone but the simple fact is that you can still access your phone simply by ejecting the phone out of the dock and viewing/controlling whatever apps you desire. It would become second nature as the phone will always be in the same place.
You are talking about a difference of a few tenths of a second between looking down and picking up your phone off the seat or looking down and popping it out of the Dock.
Or you can even pop it out of the dock with your left hand, bring it up to eye level use the app put it back into the dock with your left hand. After about a day or two it would be second nature.

It's an elegant solution, thanks. We should never bemoan the introduction of new options when it comes to where to safely put stuff in these cars. Choice (whether you like it or not) is good.
Cheers.

Here is a little video on just how easy the phone is to retrieve out of the dock...

I guess it would be interesting to know what the docking and connection time is like each time you pull your phone out. Not in terms of physical speed but the connection time btw the phone and PCM. Reading a text, looking at Waze, email for an address etc.. all would require pulling the phone out if I understand this correctly.

The connection time would be the same as what you have currently inside your 991, if you connected your phone in with via the USB cable or if you connected via Bluetooth.
If you can read a text via the PCM currently it will be the same. You would need to remove the phone for Waze or to check email.

A member brought up a question that I would like to share. He was wondering how long it would take to get the new update for the Fusion Dock when he got his iPhone 7. The manufacturer responded 2-3 months maximum.

A case cannot be used with the dock. There are so many cases on the market without a uniform size, so the dock was designed for the phone only. I will check on the 6+ but it maybe a while as they are currently working on a dock for the Macan.

It's a dud. $ 400 for a USB Charger that invalidates use of the phone screen while docked? It's like New Coke...someone thought it a great idea but forgot to check with the consumers before putting it into production. Pass.....

I had the Fusion Dock installed on Friday by The Stable in San Francisco. I own a 2013 991S. I'm very happy with the product. It solves a lot of issues for me. I now have a place to keep the phone, a convenient charging station, no cords snaking around the interior and iPhone integration. Very slick!
