Same question as Pcar75...I'm interested in doing my wheels. I have Carerra White with standard S wheels and would like to dip them a gun metal color. Certainly not for everyone but I have seen worse color choices for sure.

I used to love the color "Catalunya Splash" from Standox, also a chameleon color (Purple/ Gold/ Green) but didn't have the guts to do it on a Porsche.

I got them done professionally. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to this, the first shop was very stingy on the amount of color flip and the second shop was very meticulous and detailed. You will get a bit of "orange peel" which you have to live with if you do this, considering it's not paint and will never look like paint.

I may change the wheels to a more subtle gold after the summer

If you do it yourself, spray at LEAST 3-4 base coats, so that when you go to peel it off, it comes off in one nice smooth motion. The first shop went cheap on me and lets just say I was really annoyed when I had to keep peeling and tearing it off.

I was actually going to go with a cosmic crush color shift, however the shop explained how the inverse white pearl shifts work and that i may get some white-out in certain areas that would not blend completely, so I steered away from it. It would look very amateur and cheap. The best way to get a 100% colorshift on an inverse white color is by vinyl wrapping it with a KPMF starlight film.

Very interesting look... I actually like those wheels quite a bit... wondering how the wheel dip holds up to cleaning brushes...

what's the ballpark $$ on a job like that?

Very nice! I dip my wheels, but don't have the guts to dip the whole car myself.

Thread I started when I did my wheels:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/7929...the-911-a.html

As far as how durable it is: I've had them on and dipped for well over a year now. They have help up to countless miles, washes, wheel cleaners, racing events, etc. I am pretty pleased with them at this point! Just a little update...

If there are not enough coats to peel off in very large sections like peeling off a rubber glove, just mask off black ABS trim and spray on two coats of their dissolver ...whole product turns soft and power washes right off..both products are harmless to use on wheels or body

The matte clear one, applied in 3-4 coats, makes a perfect front end clear bra for track or long trips , peel it off when done or leave it on and will last months or years depending on car use ...7 bucks for a can

Quick Reply: So I've been playing with liquidrap "plastidip"
