Default Need Advice

As I'm only driving my 2015 911 GTS on the weekends, I've decided to replace my daily driver, currently a BMW 650i GranCoupe x drive.

The BMW is just too soft and it feels huge, which limits the daily enjoyment.

I'm deciding between a 2015 Panamera 4S or a 2015 MB AMG C63S.

I know they are quite different but both are compelling. The Panamera is of the same genre as the BMW, but the handling and performance, while similar in numbers, just feels better and more accessible. The "sports car" type handling makes the Panamera shrink around you and its size is well masked. The comfort is supreme.
The AMG C63S IS a sports car. 510 hp and its crazy fast. Rear drive only, but quite daily drive comfortable. Great tech, great exhaust note, burmeister stereo, 0-60 in under 4 seconds.

Please give me your thoughts.

Thanks.

Why not an M5? Or M6GC?

I don't like the M5, so bland. It is very fast but the car is missing soul. The M6 GC is a beautiful car and it is priced pretty close to the Panamera 4S. I just dont like the transmission on the M cars and all the variability.
Plus I am a little sick of BMW

Both the 5 and the 6 cannot hide their weight. No matter how much hp you add to the equation, weight will always be the nemesis of handling. Porsche understands this.

To the OP, where do you live? How important is AWD?

I live in NJ.

I don't worry about AWD because if it is the AMG I would put snows on.

The Panamera is a best of all worlds car, but MB did an unreal job on the C63S

Was in a friends C63 recently and it's a bit small and the Panamara is a bit big, try this out for size: http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehicl...E/model-E63W4S

Of those two, I'd go Panamera myself, spec'd out sporty rather than dowdy, but that's just my personal preference. But I wouldn't fool yourself into thinking the C63S is a sports car. You can add all the power you want and lay down 0-60 in 4 seconds flat, but it's still dragging over 3800 lbs around.

Then again, I'd probably go S6 or RS7 before either of them.

Here's a nice comparison of the Panamera Turbo and the RS7. Panamera is impressive. Note the good things Randy Probst has to say about the RS5 though…

AMG all day. It's got character the Panamera cannot match. Different class of cars obviously though.

When I moved to PA 3 years ago I got a Panny 4S as my daily driver. I left a company in NYC where I wasn't driving except on weekends to having a beautiful commute daily through horse country. Drove the Panny for 3 years through the worst of winter storms and it was a champion. Never an issue. Great car to drive always felt smaller than it was and a beautiful interior. Have never owned a C63 so can't comment but the Panny with AWD was fantastic.
