This is useful info in, for example, Europe, when your phone will roam from provider to provider depending on country.

I find it a bit quirky that they're is no volume indication. FWIW there was no volume indicator in the 997 either.

Thank you for info. I'll be contacting my dealer today.

Spoke with my dealer and yes they will add the Voice Control. Thanks again

I'm going off on a short rant here. But I'm pissed at myself, the dealer, and that CRAPPY thing Porsche calls a PCM. Dealer quoted me $3500 to install Voice Control. You kidding me!! My fault for not ordering it and some blame goes to my dealer for not bringing this feature to my attention. Also, why does the PCM have to be ON in order in receive or make a call? I have an old Toyota that does this automatically. Radio is off ... a phone call comes in ... radio turns itself on to receive the call. Porsche should be ashamed. $100K car with a piece of sh*t technology. Well, I guess I should be thankful I don't have the engine stumbling, hesitation problem (knock on wood).

Something's very wrong with that number. They're either not quoting the right thing, or they've got something else wrong. Or they're stupid. Or they're crooks.

As I said, the factory deleted this item from my order. It's a long story, but I directly paid my dealer the $595 option price and PCNA sent me a $500 customer accommodation voucher which I gave to the dealer to cover his costs above the $595. So all in all, it was a $1095 job.

I notice that volume level is displayed on later versions of the 991.2 PCM but my 2017 doesn’t have it. Is there an update to the PCM?

@c1pher this thread is over eight years old.

There are a few resources available to DIY a PCM update outside of Rennlist, and it involves downloading the firmware from some site, putting it on an SD card, putting that in your car, and twiddling your thumbs for 5 minutes while it tries to install it automatically. The "correct" way is to call your dealer.

The other annoying thing is that you can't turn the radio off, every time I start the car I have to lower the volume to zero. Am I missing something somewhere.

I think it's absolutely silly that there is no volume leve indicator. Also I haven't figured how out to:
  1. Mute notifications for emails alerts but not for text messages
  2. How to turn off the radio (media)

You get chastised when you don’t search and chastised when you do lol.

Press the volume button to mute it. Do it before you turn off the ignition and it's still muted the next time you start the car.

When programming the keys (for seats, heater, etc...), doesn't that save the volume level as well?

@c1pher I didn't realize the later version had a volume level indicator. Here's the PCM update thread though. Let me know if this does the trick!

Ah..thanks I will try it when the car is out of storage. It's still weird you can't turn it off just mute it. It's ironic that with all the advanced tech in these cars we are having a discussion on how to turn off the radio LOL
