GTS and LED clear side marker lights...
I am expecting delivery of my 2016 GTS Cabriolet in the next week or two...
My question is: Does the '16 GTS come with clear LED side markers or do I need to order up a set?
Thanks,
Stu

It'll come with amber front markers. Suncoast has the clear LED set for a little over $100.

I haven't seen a GTS with amber marker lights in - EVER.
Whats the deal with Porsche? They know we want clear lights. They make and sell clear lights. Whats the deal? lol

Not Porsche so much as DOT. I'm just thankful we can have non-sealed beam headlights! (you youngsters have no idea how good you have it!)

The replacement "clears" have amber bulbs in them, so they in fact light up amber, just like they're supposed to...apparently.
So, does the DOT guideline state that the "lens" for the light has to be amber, or just the light itself?
The side-markers on my MINI are clear (with an amber bulb) and that's how they came from Oxford.
Color me confused (not that unusual for me).

The DOT requires amber light and reflectors in front, and red in the rear - so the lens doesn't have to be colored, if there is a separate reflector.
On the MINI I believe the sidemarkers are colored, and the side repeater is clear..

You are correct. I forgot about the "reflectors" on the MINI's wheel arches.

Why would DOT care what they looked like while they were off, if they did what they wanted them to do while they were illuminated? Million $$ question. lol

Three Wheelin'
The DOT requires an amber reflector as well as an amber light, so technically we do not comply with the DOT reflector regs when we change to the clear lenses.
