Tinted GT3 RS Tail Lights on my Carrera S
#17
Has anyone tried tinting the clears rears to match the front gts headlights?
I'm looking for a light tint with no red until brake light illuminates.
I'm going to try that ...

I am thinking of doing the same thing. Reason is, I want a subtle change and I have one lens scratched. If I can get the scratches out I may not do it. IF not I probably will.

A few people have tinted their tailights, check fastdiablo's thread. I'm getting my done this weekend most likely, will post pics afterwards.

Clear tails, painted by a body shop with a tinted automotive clear coat. Went light on the tint so it wouldn't look blotchy. Had to do like 6-7 coats to achieve desired darkness.
I didn't want any red. Wanted a true smoked color. Variety of pics under different lighting conditions.

I like how it looks on the car. I have been thinking of these for my Agate Grey 991. I saw the lights on the GTS RS at the dealership when I dropped my car for service today. I got the US kit part number from the dealer, but he could not give me the rest of world part numbers. I went on the web and found the part numbers and called Sunset Porsche to verify the kit part numbers. 991-044-901-20 LHD (ROW), 991-044-901-21 RHD (ROW) 991-044-901-22 LHD US. I ordered the ROW LHD kit from Sunset Porsche. They were the cheapest I could find. Now I wait.

Here's my clear tinted ones on Agate, had the shop do them and body color the reflectors while spraying bumper.
They look a little darker than I wanted at some angles but when lit are great and I always drive with lights on, so I'll probably live without color sanding them a shade lighter.

i agree its a subtle change- this is one of those mods that no one else will really notice except for the owner. personally i love this mod. i did this conversion more for the fact that for the same money, I can also convert to European spec. i really hate the DOT and their stupid rules mandating useless orange reflectors and deleting amber rear turn signals because they think its not enough illumination. luckily for this car it doesn't change the intended design too much... Audi's have it the worst.
do you have shots of how it looked before? I'm wondering if it should be darker... or maybe its just an illusion because its a brighter car? below is a snapshot of the tail lights side by side... TOP is US-DOT spec, BOTTOM is the Ecode spec RS "dark" lights
