Close call
First pic was taken from behind the small one car garage at our second home in CT. The 50th is in that garage and narrowly escaped a severe storm today. Branch went through the roof but no damage to car. Sister's new SUV wasn't so lucky. T

Wow. Crazy pictures. Those were some crazy storms that came thru today. I am without power tonight because of them...but my Porsche is safe!
Glad everyone is ok...and the 50th is safe and sound in its home!

Thanks to all above. Very glad know one was hurt and well aware things could of been much worse. Sorry to see sister's new SUV get hammered, re: windshield, front fenders, bumper cover, grill, hood, etc. Calls already made to Ins Co, tree removal, roofer, etc. Will be in CT 7/9 - 7/20 to visit the folks and go on some spirited runs in N.E. That was a very fast and powerful storm last night. Was in Stamford yesterday, went to LGA to fly back to Denver and had to sit on the ramp as that storm went through. Plane rocked violently.
Glad your car and family was safe through it!

We got killed here, right outside Philly. Transformers were blowing up all over the place, plenty of tree damage as well. Shame about your sisters SUV

Insurance Co says that this incident is considered an "Act of God". Great, now I have to pay for roof repair and tree removal out of pocket. Sister's auto ins will cover damage to her car but she will need to pay deductible and watch her rate go up. T

BS. Insurance is such a scam!

I would still read the policy carefully. I've dealt with a few coverage questions over the years, ancillary to my primary work, and I would not necessarily take the insurance company's word on this as gospel. Then again, making a claim on a homeowner's policy is something to be carefully considered.

My ins co will not take a claim unless it meets the $ 4,000 deductible. Pretty sure the good neighbor will have the tree removed at there expense. Roof damage appears minor and I'll take care of that. Person who really takes the hit is my sister on her new SUV. She will need to pay the $ 250 deductible and see an increase on her auto policy. T
