Default Recording Jukebox

OK, so I have now have Jukebox. Question is- if I have 4 gigs of music on my usb thumb drive and start recording it to Jukebox, what happens if, during my 40 minute drive, only 1 gb gets recorded onto the Jukebox. When I restart the car and start recording again, will Jukebox start recording where it left off, or will it record from the very beginning - re-recording the first 1 gb of music? Also, same scenario, but, instead of leaving the usb in the car usb port, I remove it and then reinsert it upon restarting the car - same question, does Jukebox re-record the first 1 gig of music? Thanks.

I just loaded 5 gigs (550 songs) onto my system yesterday in about 20 min while sitting in the garage. More can be added later. So, perhaps simply plan on breaking the load into manageable pieces...

Not sure if I have the Jukebox or not. I have an old iPod with 64gb in the glove compartment. Works like a charm and I can control it via PCM. If I get a new album, all I have to do is sync it up with itunes and done.

To answer the question - it will start over. I tried it and that is what it did to me.

Well, that's a bummer! Thanks for the info, Samp!

Just as an aside, the 40 GB Jukebox in my wife's Taurus SHO takes the recordings directly off the CD; no intermediate USB stick required. If Ford can do it why can't Porsche figure it? Actually, Ford Taurus SHO has most features that the MB E350 had but for $30K less. The Germans have a new profit motive. They also lack the concept of "convenience".

My Shelby GT 500 and MB C63 took it right off the disc as well. Shame Porsche doesn't.

So the only way to get 40 Gb of music into the Jukebox is via a USB key in one continuous transfer. Please confirm.

No.

You can upload from the USB drive as often as you like (until you fill the full 40G). But, no matter how much you transfer, you must allow the transfer to complete before shutting off the PCM. Shutting off prior to completion of the transfer will start it over.

I loaded a few hundred songs on to begin with. Then I cleared off the thumb drive and then loaded it with a new set of songs once I had found some I wanted to add. Adding new songs doesn't erase the old ones from the PCM, it just enlarges the library.

Does that help?

Thanks Dog, yes that helps to confirm my query. In essence what you are saying is the Jukebox appends music files until full.

I did the same trial as you did and after adding 1500 tunes, I tried to add another couple Gb's worth and it did not seem to work, hence my question.

I am having difficulty getting to the "root" of the Jukebox to visualize the separate "folders" I downloaded. Do you have any tricks of the trade with Jukebox?
