I recently sold my 2013 991S, and I have a set of 19 inch 997 carerra sport wheels with Pirelli sottozero winter tires with less than 8k miles on them (probably closer to 6k). I'd sell them for $3k. If anyone is interested, pm me. I'm located in CT.

Nokians
I ran both the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 and studded 8 last year on different vehicles. An old Honda Civic beater on the R2's and the studded 8's on a X5M. I have been looking at both of these as possible winter tire choices. Apparently, Porsche ran them on the 911's and Caymans at the Porsche Winter Driving School (http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/buy...icle-1.2110838).
The R2 is available in 255/35/20 and 285/30/20 and the 8's are available in stock 245/35/20 for the front and 285/35/20 for the rear.
On the front wheel drive Civic, the R2's worked very well. We have a roundabout near our house and I tried to induce oversteer with the vehicle but it tracked right around the circle without an issue. Found the traction to be very good in snow, whether light or deep. Nokian touts them as having studded performance in a non-studded vehicle.
The studded 8's were a mixed bag on the X5M. They were amazing when coming to a stop at icy intersections and confidence inspiring during one trip out of town where there was a risk of black ice (was driving slow). I did find that they slid around a bit more than I would have expected, which I thought might be a result of the uninspiring tread design? Not sure. But, subjectively, I thought I slid a bit much in certain conditions.
Trying to figure out which ones I am going to go with, as I am covering the centerlock wheels on my 2015 Carrera 4 GTS to winter rims and picking up HRE's next year for summer. I had the Michelin Pilot PA4's on a 2014 E63 S-AMG, and they were phenomenal, but the tread design for that vehicle is vastly different from the Porsche spec PA4, which I question in deep snow...just my gut impression.
It is going to be interesting to see who the winter goes with this vehicle!

I also live on Long Island. I bought a winter wheel package from my Porsche dealer last fall. They are 19's with Continental WinterContact tires. They performed very well on my C4S. They were great in snow and slush. They rode well on dry pavement as well. You'll be fine provided you don't have to drive in deep snow as ground clearance is definitely an issue.
