Default Current 2010 M3 owner in the dreaming/planning stage

Hey Folks,

I just signed up for this forum because I'm seriously considering a 991.1 next year for my big 4-0.

I currently own a 2010 M3 sedan with less than 20k miles so I'm in no rush to upgrade. But I do have a few questions.

This may be too early but do you think this vehicle is well priced?: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...m=121667188527

How price negotiable are Porsche dealers on CPO or new vehicle. Are allocation/made to order vehicles similarly negotiable? I notice the mark up from invoice to MSRP is so much more than other vehicles.

Any thoughts on 4s vs 2s, given I live in the Delaware and get occasional snow and ice. The car will be a part time commuter car. Most of the time my commute is 4 miles roundtrip. Seldom 40 miles round trip. I do eventually want to do HDPE and track.

How drastic is the change from e90 M3 to 991?

Will the 991.2 affect used car pricing for the 991.1? I have a distain for turbos. I recently had a 2007 Mini Cooper S and the turbos died at 50k miles!

Thanks guys!

I just went from a 2011 E90 M3 to a 2014 C2S two weeks ago. The difference is incredible. Even though the M is a great car, it will feel "sloppy" compared to the 911. The change is VERY drastic. You feel like you are in a perfectly crafted machine behind the wheel of a 911. Besides all the mechanical differences, the updated interior is another huge step up from the M.

That's a well optioned car in the link you provided! You could probably get a very similar car for right under 100k if it didn't have the ceramic brakes. Mine is a 2014, 9k miles, pdk, aerokit, sports exhaust, and I paid right under 100k. I'm not an expert in pricing, but I don't think there is a whole lot of "wiggle room" as far as negotiating goes with these.

Turbo cars can be fun, but I love the sound you get from an NA engine. If you love the sound of that v8 in the M, you'll be missing something if you went with a turbo.

Good luck and happy hunting

Hi!

We'd like to have you on board here in the future with your 991.

New Porsche 911's are priced at a premium. Big profit margins as well. The depreciation is also very high. Very great deals on preowned ones under 10K miles at 20-40K off sticker price. You just have to look to find one with the options that suit you.

Porsche has marketed the "build your own" model very well and a lot of buyers do just that for their dream car. It's a great thing, but the second hand market is a free market and that's where the deals are.

The car you posted is over priced.

Of course I'm biased, but a small resource on here for following the used market is this thread. A good gauge for preowned car values as well.

I have been on that thread. I thought the one I posted looked good seeing it is 2014, 8k miles with PCCB, PSE, PDCC and manual. It also has no reported accidents. I am a little leery of being from non-Porsche dealers as this one was bought off auction. The dealer will probably have very little history on the vehicle.

Your experience is very much like many I've read. Basically a knife versus scalpel experience.

It's a great looking car. No CPO, and the depreciation on the PCCB's is very very high. On a trade, a dealer will pay zero extra for them. 100% depreciation on them. The PDCC is pretty much a worthless option too. I'd rather out my money elsewhere than on those options.

I wouldn't pay more than 98K for that car.

I'd personally find a 2013 with a CPO and approx 5K miles, for mid 90's.

This beautiful car just sold for around 94K. Almost a 140K build. He's adding a CPO for $2,800 as well through a Porsche dealer.

No ceramics, but other options that have a better resale as well.

Price is close to me...5K in there somewhere especially if it ends up sitting on the lot for a bit. Manual is rare on what I have seen and ceramics...rare and $$ (to replace anyway). Well equipped car. A couple K off which is always in a for sale price or more on your trade and it should be just right. The car above was a 2013 not a 14 so a few dollars back there to the price. STG991 comments two posts up are accurate no doubt on the value of the options.

Any reason for steep/complete depreciation on PCCB? I know they are a lot to replace but they also last longer.

One of those options that preowned buyers see little value in, especially the price. Over 8K option? Very steep. Ask any dealer, they will give you no credit for them. Very nice for no brake dust, don't get me wrong! I personally like them.

Serious track guys hate them, because if anything goes, it's very $$$$. And they do go on the track. Street driving only, they should last the life of the car.

Amen on the track aspect of ceramics...my R8GT has them and after 15 or so track days the rotors are good but the brake pads needed to be replaced... $3000 dollars later... tracking when consumables cost that much is a weeee bit of a bad idea.

There's over 10K in ceramics and PDCC in that car. A big chunk of change.

Alcantara steering wheel too? High wear item. Easily changed over though. No big deal.

A very nice car. Just won't sell for over 100K!

A nice looking clock on the dash

Dynamic engine mounts too. Worth it more on a PDK, but benefits the manual as well.

Checking out for now. Work calls!! Need to pay for this hobby somehow!
