Oil Filter Kit - Dealer Vs Pelican
Getting ready for 20k oil change:
No, I am not a rich fella & admittedly a guy who hates paying full price on anything. Anyway, here is some pricepoints if shopping for oil change:
Oil Filter Kit:
Local Porsche Dealer: $47.00
Pelican Parts: $21.75 + $6 sipping
Mobil 1 0-40 Euro Blend 5 quart size:
Pep Boys: $40.95
Amazon: $23.88...Free Shipping for Prime members
Yes, I know there are many here who find changing their own oil beneath them. But I know who cares about their cars most...ME!
So savings enough for a very nice lunch & cabin filter!
Hope this helps some DIY'ers.

It is important to call out if the Pelican filter is "factory". If so, the price seems good. It is similar to what I received from Sunset Porsche online.
I agree that 5W 40 is the way to go, espicially in California where temperatures do not get below 40F. Walmart has 4 qt bottles for just under $25, based on my last purchase so Amazon is a better deal

ECS has been good to me. Buy a couple filters for the same shipping charge.
I use Mahle brand filters.

I'll add another source:
Suncoast Porsche
Oil Filter $25.15 + shipping
Each filter comes with the rubber sealing gasket and appropriate crush washer.

I learned my lesson with my 993tt. Bought their "OEM" oil filters and my car just smoked to the high heavens. Spoke to a P-car mechanic and he said I needed the real "OEM" filters. The little one has a proprietary valve setup. I Thought it was b.s. But I bought a kit from Sunset, both filters for $30 total if I recall correctly. So far no smoking. So buyer beware.
