If he is on this forum he might be laying low for a while. "Hello insurance company I have a roof on my car". Not the call you want to make.

Hit the brake three times... What a douche. Honestly, if the accelerator stuck, you really had time to get on and off the brakes three times before hitting the piling? Lame story. At least he should have come up with a better excuse.

Driver is 73 years old. Gas pedal didn't get stuck; he mixed up the pedals, and mashed the gas when he thought he was pushing the brakes.

I'm only 12 years away from that. I better start looking for a driver.

My wife always laughs at me when I tell her I don't expect to be driving after I turn 70. Swears I'll never give it up. I disagree.

I'm with your wife. I don't even know you and I'm laughing at you. 70 is nothing if you stay active and have passions. Ask Freeman. Or my 90 year old buddy with the new GT3.

Besides, unless you're planning to move, we live in the twisty road equivalent of Valhalla.

Just stay away from car washes and you'll be fine!

Kudos to this 90-year-old GT3-driving buddy of yours!
As a person of only a third of his age, I just hope I'll still be able to drive a sport car 60 years later. (Or will there be any car 60 years later? Perhaps the concept of individuated automobile itself will be an ancient memory, then?)

But was your friend having trouble getting in and out of his Porsche when he was in his late 40's?

Due to a dozen injuries and surgeries, and 8 concussions, I'm 49 with the body of a 65 year old. 70's gonna be the new 90 for me. What my wife doesn't believe is that I'll have the ability to be honest with myself when it's time to stop driving. I think I will be.

Just knock it off Archimedes, you're not going to stop driving at 70!

Honestly, I stopped doing track days on my motorcycles a couple of years ago when I sensed that my skills were deteriorating. That was basically my life and I walked away from it because I didn't want to wait until it was too late. Of course, as bad luck would have it, I was subsequently nearly killed two miles from house by a red light runner.

You just gotta know when to hang it up. I'll know. My guess is that this guy didn't. Been there with my elderly father. Had to basically hide his keys from him.

Doubtful. He kicked my butt in tennis when he was in his late 60's and I was...ummm...much younger.

And sorry to hear about your bodily wear and tear.
