After watching this video, it made me appreciate Porsche Engineering with respect to Launch Control. 50 times in a row? Impressive.

I read where the GTR Nissan maxes out at 2 times before car locks out Launch Control.

I think most of us really dont have ample opportunities to use Launch Control, however, I'm gonna look for more opportunities in the future!
That's pretty impressive!

I use this feature at least 4-5 times per week mostly at traffic lights. I love the launch.... so so incredible. If you have it, use it!

I had the same response.

Using launch control at traffic lights, unless you're racing, seems like a bit of overkill. These cars will launch extremely fast without ever touching LC.

I've never used it in my Cayman and don't know if I ever will. I have in the RS5, twice just to check it out, never since. It's insane overkill and not worth the big ticket if a cop spots me.

rarely, only when I'm taking friends etc for a ride and they want to see how it works.

Personally I've not used it in 2+ years of 991S X51 ownership. However, in Summer of 2013 I asked the Canadian Tech Guy for Porsche about using it and he replied that no issue at all. There is a 991 at Weissach (Germany) that at that time had 15,000kms on it and they were all doing launch control starts with no PDK or other issues from what some people might refer to as abuse.

I can't imagine ever using Launch Control at a stoplight on a public road.

Yes... I use it at traffic lights and I love it! Not racing... just having a blast. It just makes the car that much more awesome. I sometimes get the urge to stop in the middle of the road and just launch, but I refrain.... don't want to get rear ended. It brings out the inner child in me.

Good engineering == acknowledging your platform's limitations and not making promises you aren't ready to back up.

Safe to say that video has sold a few 911TTs at Nissan's expense. It makes Porsche look better-engineered, while Nissan's hemming and hawing about launch control makes their entire car look worse. They would have been far better off not offering the feature in the first place.

I think LC is more of a toy and marketing ploy which highlights amazing 0-60 times. If you're using it all the time, something must be wrong with you. I'm sure it's fun to do here and there.

Agreed and I think it probably means more to the average M3 or american muscle car owner than the average 911 owner. I could car less is my Porsche's have launch control.
