Is there a return policy with the dealer? Some have a time window for returns.

I see that it's a '13 and the warranty is gone, some dealers offer a time window for repairs immediately after you bought the car, don't know if your dealer offers this.

At this point, unless they make the car good, the dealer's rep is rock bottom. As to what legal recourse you may have, tough to say, read the contract closely and see if there's something there that helps you out. Your state may have some laws protecting consumers regarding used car purchases.

Check the BBB and see if this dealer is a member and has any complaints, it may be worthwhile to lodge a complaint if you're not getting resolution.

Involving lawyers is always lengthy, time/money consuming and aggravating.

At the very least, the car's cooling system should be purged, pressure tested and refilled with new fluid, the cooling fans must be running right, all the system components checked for proper operation and then driven to see if the issue returns.

Unscrupulous dealers spend the least amount of time and money on everything they can, doing next to nothing on delivery prep is nothing new.

Also, does the car have service records, looking through those may help. Ask the dealer for them and also ask to see what information they have under the VIN.

Sorry for your troubles.

The year production is a 2018 (911.2), and is a 4s. It has roughly 11,000km, a registered car in Montreal, Canada.

Should have the factory warranty in effect, which is going to help you out,

You said the car was CPO, it's a Porsche dealer. Allow them to repair and see what happens.

Just bad luck. I too own a 2018 C4S bought new in 2017 and it has been trouble-free over three years, 15k miles. So, once your car is fixed, it should be fine. I haven't had a a single problem with mine. These cars are extremely very well-built and a joy to drive on back roads. Don't worry too much.

As a side note to all, check your coolant level manually. Unscrew cap when engine temp is under 140F. Make sure the cocktail stirrer is between then min and max. Some have a hard time figuring this out. Min is at 12 o’clock and max is at 6 o’clock. If you are between min and max, then the cocktail stirrer with red ball on top will be wheare the axis of rotation is for the hands on the clock, meaning in the middle of the round opening. Check periodically.

Hello all,

Car was looked at first thing this morning, and out the same day. They said since the car was in storage for a few months it's possible there was an air bubble within the coolant system. At the same time they topped up the coolant level, because they said some has evaporated. It was very difficult to substantiate their diagnostic, but they did flush all the liquids, and changed the motor oil. They test drove my car as well, and stand by their name to say "all is in good working order". Check out the work order, all details are there (except they are in FRN).

Let me know your thoughts?

Did they charge you for any of the work? I don't think you should be liable for any of it.

At least they are actively working to resolve the issue.

No, they didn't charge for anything, and they were very sympathetic. They really understood they had to fix this issue.

Glad it worked out for you. Now go out for a long drive and enjoy the car.

Glad you got it sorted out.

I am truly surprised by the cooling capacity of the 991 series. Coming from a 996, where if it sad idle for more than 20 seconds, the A/C would basically quit cooling, especially in Texas summers. The 991 with MAX A/C on (which works wonders btw), and the vented seats on full bars, it doesn't even sweat. The fan runs a minute or two after parking, but that's expected. Genuinely impressed.

Another temp issue> oil is cool and reads 'green' in the AM, after getting to Operating temp is it will go to oil level indicator to 'over max in yellow'...
BUT it shows ''driving permitted'' in yellow... and cools and level shows ok after getting to garage (5 minutes) at home!
So the level is ok but the temp expands the oil to get it to 'over max' Is the sensor that (too) sensitive?
Used Liquid Molly- excellent oils!

It happened again, 2 weeks after the 1st episode the Porsche dealership promised they fix entirely. My car was then towed back to the dealership for a 2nd time in the 2 weeks I've owned the car, no happy at all.

Glad it was resolved; however, to panic and ask about lawyers, etc. is getting a little extreme, huh? These are mechanical items and stuff happens - not everyone is out to get everyone else.

Not sure where you read lawyers are involved? But now that you mention it you may have inspired me, especially after I recently discover one of the tires (rear drivers side) is near done, and needs to be replaced. I had the car for 2 weeks, put 600km, and with 1/2 the time at the garage of Porsche because of the 2x engine over heating. It is totally off usage with the thread level of the other 3 wheels by at least 75%. Its like they found this tire about to go into the garbage out back and decided to install it on my car to save money. Not only is this greedy (avoiding to install a new tire cost of 500-600$), but dangerous which can cause *mechanical damage. Basically what does it mean to have "rigorous 111-point check", on my side, to be totally clear it is total bull**** (buyer beware).

1DZPAY if you purchased your vehicle used then that’s the sad reality of used car dealers in the US. It doesn’t matter which dealer you got to. From Mercedes, Porsche, Honda to Ferrari, the dealers cut costs at the expense of the consumer. The dealers on paper promise they complete a 100-150 point inspection when clearly they miss so many critical issues.

During financing, they want you to sign all the paperwork and get the hell out of there and avoid arbitration.

Try contacting the dealer to repair the issue. If not you can work out a deal with them to either return it or discount the car. If you mention lawyer, they won’t speak to you. You have to speak to them through your attorney.

good luck!
