My 2016 GTS Build
As I've mentioned in a couple of other threads, I decided to trade out of my TT early and get into a 2016 GTS coupe 7MT. The TT was a 40th birthday gift to myself last fall, and while it's special car and fast as blazes, I never really bonded with it. I certainly like it, but for a car as rich as the TT, I think you need to really love what you're driving. Part of the issue for me was the PDK, after driving MT cars for many years. I personally just never found the PDK as engaging as the manual. It's a totally personal decision, and the PDK just didn't "do it" for me even though it shifts more quickly and smoothly than I'll ever be able to shift. Another issue is that while the TT makes monster torque and is ridiculous off the line, I found that it really comes alive when pushed really hard, very high in the rev range. In a 520 HP car, this only happens at seriously illegal speeds. And, since I live in Long Island and commute to Manhattan daily , I don't have many opportunities to build that level of speed that makes the car "fun." In sum, the TT never felt as raw and fun as my 2013 C2S 7MT, and I never bonded with it quite the same.
Anyway, that's why I've decided to make the move. My GTS build, which locked today, is as follows:
Agate Grey
Black Leather Interior incl. Alcantara GTS Package in Carmine
Instrument Dials in Carmine Red
PASM Sport Suspension
GTS Interior Package
20" Carrera S Wheels (in black)
Luggage Net in Passenger Footwell
Smoking Package
Park Assist (Front/ Rear) w/ Reversing Camera
Electric Slide/ Tilt Sunroof in Glass
Sport Design Steering Wheel in Leather
Adaptive 18 Way Sport Seats Plus w/ Memory
Bose Audio Package
Premium Package Plus
LED Headlights in Black
I went back and forth on the wheels, as I think the CLs look nicer. However, I ultimately went with the 5 lugs as I swap out my wheels for the winter, and I wanted to be able to continue to do the swap in my garage and use the HRE Flow Forms that I ran on my TT.
The car is scheduled to be built in mid June, and I hope to get it in July. My prior cars have beaten the initial Porsche schedule by a bit, so hopefully this one will too.
I'm psyched for my new ride . . .

I test drove a TT Cab last week and ended up in a GTS cab. Your impressions are spot on. The TT was lightening fast but it seemed a little sterile. I also hated the exhaust note and Im not a fan of pdk .
Congrats!

One of my local dealers, Leith Porsche, has a 2015 GTS almost identical to the one you have specked, except it has CL's. It looks very nice.

BTW, I like how you matched the other gauges to the Carmine red of the GTS Package Tach, but you didn't do that for the Sport Chrono gauge (a separate option). Was that intentional or an oversight?

eg911, great spec on a great car. I'm sure you'll be happy with the GTS.

Thanks! Some would say brave, others would say crazy! (You may have just been being polite). It varies based on the traffic, but I live on the South Shore of Nassau County and I'd say on average it takes about an hour in the morning door to door (I work on the east side of Manhattan, only a few blocks away from the Midtown Tunnel) and about 35-50 minutes on the way home depending on how late I leave. The train takes about 1:15 - 1:20 door to door, so I'm beating the train (on the way home, by a large margin), and I love to drive so it's worth it for me. The traffic is annoying, but it's all worth it for the few times over the course of the trip that I can open it up a bit.

Thanks my friend. Your comment above sums it up. Unfortunately on my test drive of the TT last summer I was intoxicated by the speed and the boost. Live and learn, oh well. You definitely made the right move with the GTS cab (love your spec as well)!

Mike, I ordered my car through Porsche Roslyn as well. I'm working with Eric and Anton. Great team. Your car is going to be a real looker . . . maybe we'll pick ours up on the same day and I'll get to see it . . . Would be a treat to see Lava Orange in person!

Order sheet confirms that it's a '16. The 991 has started production of the next model year in June (with current model year being produced through May). It's been this way since at least the 2013/2014 model years, with the last of the 2013's being produced in May 2013 (I had one of those builds).
