PCM Software Version Update
I think although it may have the processing capability, it’s more of a new chipset issue. So somebody at some point could create a way to do so. I don’t think it exists yet. I’m wondering when Porsche will have a Porsche Classic option for the 991.1 but they are too modern, and not old enough maybe for Porsche to offer it. I think the current Porsche Classic Radio option is only good up to the 997.1, so even the 997.2 can’t get updated.
I've got a 2012.5 991S, and I just updated the software. But surprisingly, it didn't bump me up to the 4.x series. My dealer - one of the top Porsche dealerships in the country - told me that my current software is the latest I can run on my car. But I'm wondering if that's really true. Can anyone with an early 991 confirm whether or not they're able to run 4.x?
See my post #185 above as it explains the hardware differences in the evolution of the PCM3.1 units and confirming an earlier unit with V3.xx software can not be upgraded to the latest V4.76 .

I have a 2018 991.2 C2S with a PCM 4.X. I can’t find a way to tell what exact version it is, screens shown on the forum for determining that on v3.X versions aren’t the same as my v4.X. Can anyone direct me to the screen where that is noted?

For anyone who wants to update because of the Jukebox, don't. The Jukebox is very weak: 10gb storage limit and a klunky UI. A USB thumb drive is a way better option for about $15 depending on what size you need.
To avoid potential a HDD crash I proactively cloned the original Toshiba 100 GB HDD with a 250GB SSD but it does not appear to take advantage of the larger drive and the jukebox remains at 40GB.

If anyone can provide me with a copy or image of a pcm 3.1 V3.41 hard drive id greatly appreciate it. Have a 2013 Carrera S with the old style 40GB IDE hard drive, without the jukebox, and i cannot get it to clone no matter what. Now running without a hard drive and have lost PCM navigation, which i dont care about, and AUX BT, which i really really care about.
Im told if i can just get a copy of any pcm 3.1 v3.41 hard drive from any model porsche, it should all work again. Would be willing to compensate anyone that recently upgraded their pcm hard drive to SSD and can easily make a copy of their hard drive if it was on version 3.41. I also have the PCM firmware update DVD, so if you have a copy of version 3.43, which is the latest version for the older PCM 3.1 radios without the jukebox, id take that as well. Thanks.

Just updated my PCM 3.1 from V4.74 to 4.76 as my BT does not seem to be reliable.
I ran into error code 3015 with 3 different DVDs while updating.
It finally worked on the 4th attempt with a different burning tool and a Fujistu DVD-R. Windows 11 standard burning with DVD+R oder DVD-R did not work for me.
Just keep trying and try different DVDs and tools in case you experience the same issue.
