Default GTS Options

As I've been loving my GTS, a friend of mine is now trying to add 1 to his garage.

He needs PDK, he can't drive manual.

He found a nice car equipped as follows:
250 - Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
638 - ParkAssist (Front and Rear) with Reversing Camera
714 - Elimination alcantara
840 - SportDesign steering wheel
AZ - Leather interior in Black
N0 - Agate Grey Metallic
P06 - Power Sport Seats (14-way) with Memory Package
P3E - Premium Package Plus i.c.w. Power Sport Seats (14-way)
P3H - BOSE® Audio Package
ZAB - Ornamental Porsche Crest

The car doesn't have a sunroof, glass or metal, and that is his only concern.

Is that a deal breaker and will it hurt his resale value as he is buying the car?

Don't worry about it. It's a GTS, not a Panamera.

What kind of discount on it?? On the lot?

I think you'll find that there is a segment of the population, like myself, that prefers no sunroof. I'm sure we're in the minority, but we're out there.

If I were buying a used Cayman right now, I'd be looking for one without a sunroof.

That looks like a very nice build.

That is almost my exact spec, which I ordered on purpose. Different colors inside and out, but seriously, pretty close to mine. I added SPASM, and I have 14 way seats, but without Premium Package Plus, and I have Park Assist but no camera. No sunroof either.

It's a great spec if you like it -- but some people really want a sunroof, and if your friend does, he ought to get one with a sunroof.

Never use my sunroof. Way way too noisy.

If he can live without it, tell him to buy it.

The only person that would know if no sunroof is a deal breaker is the actual buyer. Many that like them, some that don't.

It would be a deal breaker for me that no amount of discount would make up for. I'd rather have exactly what I want on a $140K car then save a few $K.

Mine is not noisy at all, looks very cool on the car, and operates perfectly. I use it ALL the time,....hot, cold, just not rainy.

And like STG, I don't like them. In fact, I've managed to find or order No Sunroof cars for all my Porsches. Even the Turbo.

I'd say that if you don't like them, but found a car that is otherwise right, you could easily just suck it up and have a sunroof that you never used.

But if you love them and find a car that is perfect except it has no sunroof, that one needs to be passed on.

I wouldn't worry about that on resale...as a person who just bought a barely used 991 all of them I looked at I didn't even notice. Many other options were more important to me. Hell my car doesn't even have parking sensors...really. Didn't notice till after I bought it. Still dumbfounded that's an option on a 119K sticker car but yup it was skipped. Good news I don't need it.

I think it depends on the buyer. I love my glass sunroof and would not even consider buying a car without it no matter the discount. If the buyer doesn't want or care about about a sunroof 9% is a pretty good place to be.

He should thank his lucky stars that he found one without a sunroof.
