Road trip - Scottsdale to Dallas - suggestions
I am driving my car back from Scottsdale to Dallas and wanted to make it a fun trip. Can you recommend a few route options?

Thanks Marv800, I was thinking of going via Flagstaff and catching I40 to Albuquerque, Santa Fe and explore a few places there then head down to DFW, or drive to Colorado - Durango, Telluride, Colorado Springs and DFW. Thoughts?

If you decide to head for Durango, you ABSOLUTELY HAVE to travel through southern Utah to get there. Utah Scenic Highway 12 is the greatest road in the continental US. Period. Anybody who comes on here after me and tells you otherwise is a liar and a charlatan and is only trying to mislead you. Don't listen to them. A string of 5 (five) National Parks stretch west-to-east along this corridor, from Zion to Arches. Moab is the best outdoor activities city in the country. Durango is a great place to visit, and Mesa Verde is great if you haven't seen it. I'm sorry, but you're going to need to schedule an extra week for this trip.
Of course, living in Scottsdale you know this already, I hope.

Northern route (I40) is more scenic IMO. Southern route (I10/20/30) allows you to drive 80+ mph legally. And, is shorter. Van Horn Cattle Co.is good place for a steak. Cornerstone Coffee makes good espresso. Papa+s Pantry also in Van Horn. None of these places are super fancy, but can't beat prices. And, there is usually an interesting local to chat up....T
