So this post was supposed to be my "Hey new 991 GTS owner here..." but then things changed...
A little back story. Been "Goldilocks"ing 911s lately. wanted something with back seats so I sold my 981 cayman S...tried a 991S used...not so much. Bought a 997 GTS. Enjoyed it. Thinking it was so good a GT3 must be better.
Sought out a very nice GT3. It was fantastic. Raw, rumbling and so vicious.
Ultimately a few things happened that caused my imagined self to meet my real self.
Fact of the matter is that life, kids etc get in the way of doing anywhere near the track time to really enjoy the gt3. Under most normal street conditions a GT3 is a little tough to live with. E.g. getting over speed bumps at the kids soccer field, wife going to dinner and trying to look elegant while climbing out of the sport buckets in a dress, etc.
So I had finally resolved to move on. I reached out to a couple of dealers and Henessey was the only one that responded in a timely fashion. They had a couple of 911 gts on the lot and a 991 gt3. As it turned out, I was headed to the ATL for business so I headed up with the full intention of driving a red GTS back home.
BUT...
in the showroom next to it was a beautiful Graphite 911_50. It was litterally love at first sight. It didnt hurt that my wife loved it and she considered it more "age appropriate".
It was a CPO car with 1900 miles. Showroom perfect.
Now it is mine
More equipment than I would have gotten had I ordered it:
Black/Dark Silver Houndstooth
-PDK
-Dimming Mirrors
-Seat Heating
-Luggage net
-Smoking Package
-LED headlights with PDLS+
-Entry & Drive
-Light Design package
-Park Assist
-Electric Sunroof
-Power Steering plus
-Burmester Sound
-Folding side mirrors
-Headlight cleaning covers in exterior color
But I am enjoying it.
It has such a nice dual personality. With all the fun buttons pressed, its got plenty of umph but it can also do a nice impression of a boring car getting 32mpg on the way home with a quiet enough interior to hold a conversation
BTW the guys at Hennessey were great to deal with and made everything easy
All nice cars! I regret having passed up on a white 997.2 GT3 with 11k miles on it (CPO) that was about $111k 1.5yr ago. Can't find that equivalent for less than $130k today. Granted I know the 991 as a DD is superior.

+1 ... sitting with Brett Payne at Sonnen this week signing the lease on my GTC Cab we got to talking ... he estimated the retail on my 2010 GT3 (the one in
my avatar) at a retail around $145k...
I'm never selling that car ... its a future classic; I know the 991 is faster/better but the last Mezge+manual is something special... and the 3.8L RS is even
more so ...
You said somebody 'bought it off my lot'. Does that mean you are in the car business? I am looking at buying a new GTS, but the sales tax....yipe. 4 cars bought and sold. The sales tax alone on that in my state would buy you a nice ride.
Jim
I am a new Honda dealer and occasionally buy myself something nice and stick it into used car inventory.
Luckily Florida only taxes on the trade difference so it hasn't been that bad.
The houndstooth in black and silver didn't woo me in photos but in person with all the other stitching in the car, it is just fantastic
Ryun, if that car had been Geyser I'd have owned it before you ever heard about it. My salesman knew I was looking for a Geyser 50th and called me when that one hit the lot, even though it was Graphite. I love the color, but I already have one of these and two vehicles the same shade of gray/grey just wasn't in the cards for me.
Wound up shifting gears entirely and ordering a GTS.
