GTS Discount from list price?
I've finalized the build for my GTS and have been speaking primarily with one dealer who I would like to buy the car from (long history, good guys). I won't name names since that would be out of turn. They have offered me a spot in their allocation that would be for a 2016 GTS with completion in mid-June. It's a well spec'ed car, with $28k in options. I essentially have no time to reconsider the spec as the build would be closed almost immediately in order to get the car into this specific allocation.
My question is, what should I reasonably expect as a discount from MSRP? I've been offered 3% while being told that GTSs are not being heavily discounted at this time. What is everyone else's experience? What should I be holding out for?
Thanks,
-Mike

I got 6% off my dealer's first GTS allocation. From what I've read here, there are a handful of owners who may have negotiated as much as 8%, but I think that the sweet spot is 3-5%. With that said, it will be highly dealer dependent. I know another RL member who fought and scrapped with a dealer to get any discount at all and ended up in the 2-3% range.

I was able to get 5% off an ordered GTS (build locks in late May, scheduled production in mid/ late June) from a NY area dealer. But it's highly dependent on the dealer, your history with the dealer, location, number of allocations, etc. It's nice to get a large discount, but you have to question what it's worth to you in terms of beating a dealer over the head and doing the legwork of going to/ calling various dealers and pitting them against each other, if you have a good and long-standing relationship with the dealership you're currently working with.

As others posted, avg. discount is 3-5% with some people getting as high as 8%. I was able to get 7%.

Thanks for all the input. I'm being told that I can get an early build if I consent to lock in the spec immediately. The dealer is saying that the car would be completed in mid-June. Does that sound reasonable? They are referring to it as a V210 build allocation. From the sounds of many here including eg991, production for their cars STARTS in mid June. Am I being sold a bill of goods or is it possible to get on some sort of 'fast track' as I'm being told?

Gotcha, thanks. I just wanted to make sure they weren't trying to dazzle me with BS to make the sale. My wife and I have a wedding in Vermont to go to on August 1st and I would love to be able to take the GTS.

Sounds like you should comfortably make that date. Code V210 means "change freeze point reached", which typically means that the car will go into production about 4 weeks from that point. If your production is completed by mid June, you should have your car in the Northeast by early/ mid July.

Interesting that such a slot would even be available. I would think that most of us who order these cars would be looking for the earliest possible delivery date, especially with Spring here. I wonder if the dealer has this spot open or has to try and trade with another dealer for the allocation.

ibmiked, just make sure it's a MY16. Mid-June should be just about the cut-off and you don't want to end up with one of the last MY15s for the same price as a MY16.
