Call it what you want,....money grab, strange, different, parts bin, whatever.....(it's all of them)....

I think it looks totally awesome, at the very least one of the better "special" versions I've seen.

It has the power kit so it's basically a GTS Targa that is very unique. I'd take one in a heartbeat.

There will be a UK edition of ten inn classic silver. North America will also get special edition. Targas are selling like hot cakes.

I'm guessing the price is reflective of some sort of crazy Dutch taxation? Kind of like how the Porsches in Australia cost almost 2x usa pricing?

I suspect that you are correct. The manual costs more money than the PDK. This is most likely due to it posting lower fuel economy numbers.

I also have a Volvo V60 Polestar, and the people from the Netherlands commented that the tax on that 6 cylinder engine went crazy high on January 1.

So maybe the "exclusive" moniker is growing a bit old, but if I were buying new, and if I was interested in a Targa this would pique my interest. There certainly won't be a lot of these on the US highways! A buyer won't wait for the next special edition if that buyer likes what he sees. As long as Porsche doesn't uplift prices beyond the normal costs for the options and as long as dealers will, well, deal - I say more power to Porsche for offering up special, unique packages!
The "parts bin" comment means that the demand forecasts were optimistic, and Porsche AG now has a bunch of seats with no ordered cars in which to install them. So the ball is kicked down the hall to Marketing.

The company buys a lot of their parts on a just-in-time basis, but things like those seats probably have significant lead time from the supplier and have to be ordered in quantity, in advance. If they guess wrong about that quantity, they have a "parts bin" problem.

This is somewhat different from "parts bin" practices at GM, where they have 100,000 steering wheels left over from Cavaliers that the rental fleets didn't buy, so they stick them on Corvettes. But in both cases, the respective automakers are trying to avoid having to scrap a lot of brand-new parts.

If a rumored Panamera based 2 door coupe reappears, expect a special " Yeah Baby " edition with this outasight , groovy pattern from the 928 era :

There have been 'special edition' paint and stripe packages offered from Porsche since forever. It's nothing new. But I agree, it is not a flattering marketing strategy.

Wouldn't mind the older 911 in that color.
