Default Souped up 991 coming?

I know we have the GTS, but the wild popularity of the Cayman GT4 (predicted by many) and the new Boxster Spyder (which I think surprised a lot of people) made me wonder if a higher hp, light weight, manual transmission only is coming for the 911 series. Does anyone think this would not be a popular car!?

It already exists. It's called a GT3 RS

I think you may have it backwards -- the GT4 and Spyder are attempts to take the GT3 concept downmarket to the 981 line. The Manual-Only is simply to ensure the cheaper cars can't get anywhere near the GT3's (or 911S, possibly) Nordschleife lap times.

I'd take a manual GT3. But they won't build it.

Yeah I dont see a gap between the GTS and the GT3/RS for something "GT4"-like ...

+ they wont go back ... if they did they were going to they would have offered it on the RS...

I'll be surprised if they still offer a manual on the 991.2 cars ... although its probably no incremental cost since they have already sunk the R&D in the
manual variant of the PDK.

Right. Totally backwards. The GT4 got a manual not because its lighter but because it better fits a car Porsche sees as a downmarket GT3. Of course then once they put it in there they are bound to talk about how sporty and light it is. Sporty and light enough for the GT4, mind you. Yet somehow not sporty and light enough for the GT3. Go figure.

Yeah but forget about the GT2, we want the 'souped up' GT2RS!
