I ordered a Targa GTS a few weeks ago. Before I did, the dealer shared the build order with me. (They had a vehicle already ordered for their inventory; they updated the order with my config.)

At what point can I start tracking my vehicle's progress and how do I do that? Sorry if this has been answered before. I searched on the forum but didn't find what I was looking for.

AFIAK there is no customer system available to track this, at best I think you can ask your dealer to share the production schedule from the internal system, once its on a boat you can track the ship
via a variety of websites...

Ah, ok. That makes sense. I think the dealer said that it'll have a VIN after it's built and at that point they can give me more information.

You usually get something from the dealer like this (for my car):

V200 Delivery date determined 11/06/2014

V250 Vehicle fixed 03/20/2015 03/20/2015

V260 Vehicle entry to body shop (CP 0.0) 04/03/2015 04/03/2015

V270 Vehicle exit production (CP 7.8) 04/10/2015 04/10/2015

V280 Vehicle entry to CT-assembly (only CT vehicles) 04/10/2015 04/10/2015

V290 Vehicle exit of CT-assembly (only CT vehicles) 04/10/2015 04/10/2015

V300 Vehicle completion (CP 8.0) 04/10/2015 04/10/2015

Once its passed CP 8 the car should be ready for delivery approx 10 days after I believe ... then your dealer should know what ship its scheduled for and you can track the ship...

I had the same question of my dealer. He told me the vin of my GTS would be available on March 27 but all other tracking dates can only come through him. How do I find the name of the ship?

I believe the internal systems will show the name of the ship that your car is manifest on, I would check with your sales guy about two weeks after the car exits CP8 ...

Do what I did... just harass your sales guy into sending you a screenshot of the build/shipping status from their internal systems every other day or so. From what I gather the dudes selling Porsches to people like us are used to this behaviour.

My GTS arrived at The Port of Emden on March 31.

What date will it be on the boat departing Emden?

What date will it arrive in Brunswick?

What date will it be on a truck departing Brunswick?

Is this sick or what?

I'm not looking forward to the long wait once I place my order. The two months of waiting for my 05 Mini Cooper too arrive drove me nuts!

Well, I found out today that my Targa (http://www.porsche-code.com/PGLTDP15) is on the "Auto Atlas", heading to San Diego. Woohoo! Anyone else got a car on the same ship?

fyi, Auto Atlas is due into San Diego on May 12.

You can find ship schedules thru VW's shipping company, PWL, here: http://www.pwl.de/en. Go to the bottom right of the page and select "West- and East Coast USA" from the Liner Schedules drop down box.

You can track the ship's voyage here: http://www.vesselfinder.com/?imo=8608054. Auto Atlas was heading east off the west coast of France as of a couple of days ago, but you lose track of the ship for about 5 days as it transits the mid-Atlantic.

The boat, The Ivory Arrow, is in a dead spot in The Atlantic. Have not heard its location since 4/21. Scheduled to dock in Baltimore on 4/28 and Brunswick on 5/1.
