I hear ya. I refused a sunroof during my search. It became so frustratingly impossible to find a rare bird of such kind while meeting my other criteria, I just threw in the towel and opened my search to sunroof cars as well.

I’m sure you’ll feel 60 lbs on the roof while on twisties and in tune with the car. I can typically feel when a car has a full tank of gas, or even a small passenger, lower in the car.

I know I posted in this thread a while back when I still had my 2014 991S w/ sunroof. About 2-3 months before I sold the 991S, the sunroof began making a lot of noise. I especially noticed this on twisty canyon roads when the chassis was under load. My GT3 obviously has no sunroof and I much prefer it. The biggest downside is that it's darker in the cabin but I can easily get over that. However, I can't deal with all of those creeks and rattles again...

I don't plan to buy another modern Carrera in the foreseeable future but if I did, sunroof delete would be a must.

Unless you buy new and spec it without sunroof, good luck finding one without in the used market.

Exactly why i ordered one without the sunroof, searching for an S was like looking for a needle in a haystack . Being 6’6”, there’s no way I can adjust the seat in order to avoid my head hitting the framing around the roof.

My car before my 911 was a mustang convertible. While I liked the top down my wife hated it. Then I noticed how much time I was taking cleaning car from dust it picked up with top down.

My 911 has no sunroof and I’m perfectly happy. To me either get a coupe or a cabriolet. If you must have a sunroof get a targa 😜

#1 pick is no sunroof. LOVE hearing this car sing and taking in the ambiance and scenerie with the roof open, and my sunroof is mostly open. At 6’4 with long torso, I juuuust fit in comfortably enough, but I’d much prefer the extra headroom and rigidity from a solid roof. Also: the weight savings are a nice bonus.

#2 is the steel sunroof (as I have). Simply because it weighs less than a big glass roof up there. I would guesstimate the glass roof doubles the amount of weight up there from a solid roof (if anyone knows real figures, I’d be interested).

From another thread:

"I replaced my steel sunroof with a glass roof. My car is black so it was a simple DIY. The glass roof weighs 23lbs, the steel roof weighs 17 lbs."

No sunroof, no leaks, No sunroof, no creaks! Several years ago when I found an ML350 equipped my way, except for the sunroof, I bought it. This what happened after a Florida toad strangler thunderstorm earlier this year. The drains weren't clogged, the volume of rain overwhelmed them. I guess Daimler didn't account for a Florida shower.

I was able to dry this w/o any water stains, lucky I guess.

C4S en route sans sunroof.

That's good to know and am glad I have the 6 lbs. lighter steel roof.

Have a glass sunroof on my 991.2. Wish I didn't. Now that it is cold here in Chicago, I notice MUCH more wind "whistle" from the roof. Perhaps one of the seals isn't quite where it should be... will have it looked at eventually

So, 23 lbs plus the metal reinforcements and the motor. Easily 40 to 50 lbs in the wrong place !

Interesting. Not as big as I thought. I guess I'll take the 6 lbs, though. Lol
