I had posted this over on the GT3 forum, but didnt get a response.
I am trying to remove my 991 GT3 mirrors to send them off for some paint work.
I have gotten to the point of actually having the mirror off, but cannot get the wiring for the power mirror disconnected.
What am I missing? Is there an easier way to do this?

Have you popped out the glass and tried going in from the front?

Take a pic of the connector you are struggling with... Might help us. But if I recall, the connector that you might be struggling with is down near the front-edge of the door, under the trim panel close to where the conduit runs from door through rubber boot to body of car. If you haven't taken the entire trim panel off, it is under that. Might have a picture around here somewhere... The entire wiring harness from that point gets pulled-out through the door with the mirror.
Pics??
Looks good.

You didn't miss anything... I wrapped the hood last night, to match the roof. I haven't posted a link to my blog post about it on here yet. But here it is: 991 Hood Wrap
More to come soon (sorry to OP for the side-tracking here...).

I am actually trying to do this now, my mirror got snapped off by a deer. I purchased the new arms that screw into the door but cannot figure out how to get the wiring out of the mirror arm. I have almost a square purrple connect that no way can pass through a tiny hole. Im curious how people disconnect this, and does the wiring have to go back in the same order?

This is a pretty good install video that should help. It’s a lot of work.

It looks like you'll have to remove the connectors on the harness in order to extract it from the mirror armature. Even if you remove the door panel to access the other end of the harness, you'll still have to remove connectors to extract it from the armature as the other end has them too and they also won't fit thru the hole the wire is routed thru. May as well just do it from the outside and save some work. Just protect the side of the door from getting damaged during the process.

Great resources posted in this thread by Laszlo_Laz - thank you!!! I am completely replacing my sport design mirrors (i.e. supports, housings and frames) with DB Carbon pieces - but that video guaranteed that I won't be doing the work myself.
