Default How is 991 manual shift **** affixed?

I have a 2013 991 with a manual gearbox. I'd like to ditch the factory ball and get something else, but I have no idea how this thing is affixed to the shaft - I'm assuming it's not merely screwed on. I don't want to just start prying, twisting or pulling. Any info or tips? The web seems to be really lacking as a resource on anything but PDK shift *****.

Not sure on the 991. Prior 911's were pressure fit, simply removed by pulling up (watch out for your nose when it comes off). Call your local Porsche parts department and see if they can shed some light.
