Dfw weather

Still very icy this Saturday morning....took me 2.5 hours to go 18 miles yesterday. The 991 is a great snow car, though! I've lived in Washington State, NYC, and Colorado... not an amateur winter driver. Ice, however, without studded snow tires/chains is always unpredictable. Couple that with Texans ( I'm a native, so I can say this) utter winter driving incompetence, and add in the variable of a big dual wheel pickup and the typical attitude of ( cue redneck accent) " hey! Hold my beer and watch this!".....well, we all know how that ends. Stay sharp out there!

I am in Austin. Drove Parmer lane to work this morning and crawled over the over-pass'. Cars were sliding into the cement guardrails while the fire dept was trying to warn people. I am from Maine, so pretty experienced in driving in inclement weather. I was a bit worried in the 911, but going slow and being cautious made the difference. My old RS4 was a mountain goat in most conditions, but ice is ice. I can't believe what I saw people doing today. Fire truck with lights, flares, etc.. and people still don't slow down. Even with cars literally spinning all around me I made it in without a scratch. Over 140 accidents in Austin between 12am and 12pm.

I grew up in Buffalo NY but the 991 stays home during this kind of weather. Oh the 911 does great in the snow, it's the other Texas drivers that think they can go as fast as they do in July. We have a saying here; "When it snows in Texas the only thing that accumulates is wrecks on the side of the road."
