Seem to remember trying to extend my exisiting attached garage of about 35' long would be almost double. Also, I've found 10' ceilings work fine with lifts...anything higher seems to start to cost more. I couldn't do it here, but there are prefabed steel buildings & think you can get like a 50'x100' for under $20k.
I had a pearl blue corrado! Same wheels too!!! Loved that car. Miss my scirocco more though.

I'm kind of the opposite -- I own a lot with a 4-car garage on it. Sits 4.5 miles from my house, 1.0 miles from my office, 0.5 miles off the road I take between the two. Has electric door lifts. I store some enthusiast cars there. But I never seem to use them. For some reason, not having them at home results in my not using them. I need to up my "fun" game.

The prefab buildings vary in price with demand for steel. Note that the price is just the shell. You still have to build a foundation, erect the shell and finish it. In some cases bricks and sticks will be more cost effective.

I think I found a solution. I'll just buy chrisK's house, garage and all.

I suspect what you can build is governed by outbuilding regulations so that should be your starting point.
