Default Xpel interfering with Entry and Drive Frunk Release?

I just had an Xpel Ultimate full front wrap and Opticoat coating done on our 911s cab equipped with Porsche Entry and Drive. (Let's not debate coatings please). Since picking up the car the Entry and Drive "magic hand wave" over the frunk no longer works - the frunk will not release and I have to use the remote key fob (which does work). Has anyone with an Xpel front wrap and Entry and Drive experienced something similar?

My friend has Entry/Drive and Expel Ultimate. No issues at all.

No issues here with Expel Ultimate, works just as well as before it was wrapped.

I have enter and drive. I don't have any film. The wave-the-hand open frunk sesame thingy seldom works fast enough for me. I usually bypass this function and just use either the key fob or the cabin button.

Oh, I have OptiCoat Pro. Luv it. U will 2!

In case Xpel installer removed the bumper prior seamless install, magic hand wave sensor might not install properly or somehow defective.

Initially, with mine, this occurred. Car is coated with Modesta, and entire hood, fenders and front bumper is XPel coated with Opti-Coat. Took it into the dealer, and the SA advised me that the latter would create interference with the trunk release. I experimented a little, and find that if I lower my hand slowly toward the area in question, not much more than an inch from the body of the vehicle, the trunk now opens. It takes a little finesse, but worth it for this handy feature. Hope this helps!

Same here. Works about a quarter of the time when I intentionally do it; and about 90% of the time when I forget to put away the keys when I'm doing the pressure washing phase of my wash procedure (after the foam gun, which doesn't seem to trigger it).

I don't have Xpel. Just hit 4,000 miles on my 2014 - I have three rock chips so far (all below headlight level) and a group of three sub-millimeter chips out of my front windshield. It can't stay new forever.

Used Dr. Colorchip - makes them harder to see, but not like new.

+1 I can't get it to work hardly UNLESS I'm washing the car and forgot to put the fob out of reach. Oddly, water hose works every time, hand wave not so much

Try knee on hood, slight to the left of the Porsche crest.

I am wondering this as well. Could be something the installer disconnected. I just had an escort installed in mine and am experiencing the same thing- frunk no longer opens with the wave. Gonna call em on Monday. grrrr.

Well today I was futzing around the front end and kept trying various combinations of body position, key/pocket, cell phone/pocket, hand position, distance from the front fender, etc. Strangely enough, sometimes it worked - quickly, but then sometimes only after floating my hand around a bit, and 60% of the time not at all. The car was sitting still and the engine was off.

Very strange. I'm going to ask the dealer this week to get yet another (set of) opinion(s).

Thanks to you all - with the amount of variability in the answers I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the variability of the E&D frunk sensor repsonsiveness!

perhaps battery in the key is weak?

No issues with my X-pel covered TT. My SA told me to move my hand slowly over the bumper just below and left of the badge and that seems to help.

Case closed, combination of factors. The function works, but one must be very steady and in very much the right location (below and slightly to the left of the badge). I think the combination of the Xpel AND the Opticoat reduced the sensitivity. (I worked with Porsche Bellevue on this today - they were very helpful even though they had nothing to do with creating the situation.)

Glad you got it resolved. I tried knee to left of crest today and waving my hand around like an idiot. Decided much easier to pull out the fob and press the frunk button and call it good.
