To get to the engine air filters. As you can see from the pictures, the airboxes are below the spoiler and to open them the bumper cover needs to be removed.

They weren't horrible but pretty dirty. I would say 40K is a good interval for replacement.

No, I can't see how that would even be possible. The air intake is under the louvers in the rear engine access cover and there is no direct path to the "outside."

I'm on the same metaphorical boat... 14k in 8 months has been fantastic fun but I can't bear to see the miles climb so quickly... Especially on my monotonous and traffic riddled daily commute .... We also need something more practical for the family as my wife's car is also on the compact side... Toyota on order.... Will be hard to resist picking up the porsche key ring every day but I'm thinking weekends and the odd special weekday will give the right balance of smiles for miles... !

Sweet, thx for sharing.
Jackstands -- looks like you placed them on suspension crossmember -- inboard of lower control arm knuckles?

Yes. There is a crossmember that runs all the way across the car almost even with the jackpoints, stuck a stand just inside the moving part of the suspension on each side.

Nice job! Wish there were more listings in the diy subforum. The "other" forum has some but none as extensive as I'm used to from BMW and Volvo forums. Such is life.

You are right about the oil change being easy- one of the easiest cars I've done it on. Only weird thing is the parts lady at park place in Dallas acts like you are from Mars if you ask to purchase an oil filter! Are you going to do transmission, belts, coolant services too?

Bravo for doing it. As to the unspent seven or eight hundred the dealer would have added on...it actually pays a lot of staff people who don't even work on cars, plus real estate property taxes, building maintanence, liability insurance, employee health insurance, phone bills, electrical bills, hazardous waste disposal, city business taxes, state taxes, legal fees, and hopefully a profit to reinvest into the business.
