Back to the OP's question, what do you suggest for lifting the car evenly to use your stands?
Like he mentioned, jacking up one corner so high is a bit concerning. The two jacks was referencing lifting the car evenly to put stands underneath. I sure hope nobody would work under their car using no stands and only floor jacks! Dangerous!!
Yeah working only with a jack supporting would be Darwin Award candidate...
I for one was referring to using two jacks to place the jack stands. There are better ways to check out than being crushed by your own car because you do not want to damage it by jacking one side only. :-)

I got what you meant. I think that is a good way to "place the stands" and not hang around under the car like that as some took it that way.
Seems like a good way to lift, but might be better to put jack stands at different jack points than beneath the ends of these bars?
Why do you think it would be better? And where would you put stands?
The lift bars lift from the factory lift points. And they 'lock in' to the holes in the lift points. The profile of the bars is designed to fit the saddle of standard jack stands.
I use these on my 928s all the time. It's quicker than lifting one corner at a time and more secure when your done since the bars won't move on the chassis.
Just used my 4 new Jackpoint stands for my first oil change on a 13 C4 and they worked great. They get the car up high enough to easily remove and retighten the oil drain plug and provide a very stable platform. A great product for an amazing car!
One thing to think about carefully when using 2x jacks ... dont forget these
things are on wheels ... if you use jacks, one on either side, if there is any
imbalance of weight there is a chance that the car might roll on one or
other of the jacks (and fall off)
Ive had a car roll off one jack before and it nearly (but for a lucky jack stand)
landed on its PCCBs! All because the jack was not perpendicular to the car the
weight cause the jack to rotate...
Great point Larry. Thanks. Last thing you want is a rolling rear end of the car with two jacks. Scary.
when it happened to me I was very lucky that I had a jackstand under the car
and one of the rear control arms landed on it ... stopping the car short of
landing on the floor on its PCCBs
I think I would rather have the car 'tlit' and have wheels on the ground as some friction at work than a car tottering on two jacks with wheels .. all it takes is
one (costly) mistake!
Anyone have the jackpoints and have used them with the wide body (GTS/C4S/GT3/Turbo) side skirts?
I just put my stocks wheels/snow tires on my TT Wednesday using Jackpoint jack stands and 2 low profile 3 ton floor jacks from Harbor Freight.
No problems but it was a little hard for me to see under the side skirts to line up the jackpoint pads to the jacking points on the car. As it was the first time I had done it, I was very cautious but it went fine.
I ended up with a jack on each side of the car but did one wheel at a time and yes, it freaked me out to see how high the jacked corner was off the ground but all was fine. I had to raise the car above the level where the Jackpoint would fit under the pad to clear the plastic panel under the car.
I suppose if not wanting to use two jacks, using ramps would solve the tilting or flex issue. Drive up on ramps and jack one side from there. Also good for instances where you don't want to mess with jacks or stands?
