I hadn't been aware of that fact, and nothing in the Porsche literature that I could find (or website) disclosed that fact. For the 997.2GTS, the optional wheels were the same width as the CL's.

I ended up speaking to a PCNA rep at the LA show, and asked about the wheels. She did some quick checking for me and came back with the unwelcome news. I've already ordered my car (it's two days away from the Panama Canal) so I'm stuck with them unless I can work out a dealer trade for some Sport Tecnos. Of course, the BBS CH-R wheels are black, with a polished lip, with the wider width, so that may end up being my solution.

The GTS with my option spec is $140k. My trade on my C2S is $112k. I have $33K equity in the C2S so my pay-in is only $5K.

According to our local dealer, this will be the last NA GTS available in SA. Sales talk, not sure... but with the way our currency is going against the dollar, I can only score in the next 2 years.

I decided to sign order today as I can spec the car with a few options my C2S doesn't have and I like the GTS look compared to my conservative AGATE 991.
I have been getting updates on all the load shedding! Hope its not too rough boet. i still have family in Jo'burg and my Mom lives in CT.

Congrats on the GTS - in your situation, I would go for it. that's a great trade on your current car. so not a big hit to trade up really.. The GTS is a lot of 911 for the money..

all the best.

That's a hold up for me too. Has anyone found a way around this?

Ducktail option eliminates the black grill on the rear deck. At $2,000 it is worth it, IMO.

+1 well worth it on a coupe ... I'm less convinced of the look on a Cabriolet

Default GTS

My next question would be if it is worth going to a 4 GTS instead of the 2wd?

For me not only is it not worth going to 4 - I'd probably prefer the 2wd. That's the beauty of the GTS is that you can get wide azz with 2wd. 4WD is a benefit in colder wetter climates for additional traction in bad weather. Not sure you'd need or want it in Jo'burg. I prefer the sportier nature and lightness of a 2wd sports car.

Maybe Drive both and see what YOU prefer.

Default GTS

I drove both today and sticking to the 2wd. Driving the 4wd feels like my wife"s Quattro A3.

Curious on a more detailed explanation if you don't mind.

Haven't really read a good comparison between 2 vs. 4 wheel related to performance/feel.

I remember driving a 993 C4 back in '98 and I much preferred 2WD feeling ... never looked back!
