I think it's just a matter of taste. Myself, I prefer something that differentiate between tires and wheels. If the tires are greyish or some other colors (is there any?), I would go with black. But, the tires are in black, so other colors for the wheels.

Satin wheel is okay and definitely don't like the black wheels.

A Platinum Satin Turbo Centerlock wheel would be the best option! I'd like to see someone powdercoat their black ones.

The 997 GTS had black CL wheels as standard, but you could also get them in silver, or even the Carrera Sport wheels, so more options for that car than the 991 GTS. I have the black wheels on my 2012 997 GTS and like them, but only because they have a polished lip.

You wouldn't think the half inch of polished metal would make that much difference, but it does. It gives separation between the wheel and tire. I don't particularly like the solid black wheels like those on the 991 GTS. The wheel and tire just blend together.

Hmmm... I'm a gunmetal/platinum wheel guy and this is a very interesting idea. My only concern is if there would be any impact on resale/trade in down the road if I decide to upgrade.

Certainly less expensive than a set of center lock HREs...

Professionally refinished and powder coated, nobody will ever see an issue with it.

Black wheels. I never warmed up to them until last December when I picked up a used MINI S that came with OEM black wheels. In its case, on a red car with black roof, the black wheels just seemed to fit much better than silver ones would have. Bonus is they're much easier to keep clean and don't show brake dust as fast.
I still think they look better on some colors than others (obvious), but I'm actually kind of a fan now.

Time for a poll. I thought I was alone in not getting into the black wheel trend but it appears not.

No, I don't care for them either.

It probably started with some lazy guy who got tired of all the brake dust on his wheels.

I love my Carrera S wheels.
