I personally wouldn't go to the local dealer to do it. I'd feel like an idiot. Here I bought this from Suncoast, so now replace it. I wouldn't feel right doing it.
As far as a car goes, I see things a bit differently. It's common to service a car somewhere different than where it was purchased.
By the way Lex, who is your preferred dealer down there? I've used Exchange and have been happy with them.

I've used Motor Werks, but stopped a few years ago because their service writer was an ***.
Napleton in Westmont is OK. Crazy service pricing.
Loeber has done me great service.
I'm now using Rizza, since I ordered my car from them. Very good so far.
In the past, when I've been out of warranty, I've used an indy shop with great success.
Don't know what I'll do with the 991 in a couple years when out of warranty. I have time to figure out. These cars are becoming so complex, not sure if the indys are keeping up with all the computer stuff and diagnostic software. The good part, is that are cars don't really require a whole lot of service.

I think the Exchange is very reputable. I've tried buying a couple cars from them over the years, but they've never been competitive. I guess they are use to North Shore residents walking in and paying MSRP. I'm sure their service department is great. Never used them. Hummmm. My standard lights were amber LED. Maybe because I have the LED headlight option??
