Default Blemish in protective film

Hey All,

I just got my 'new to me' 2012.5 C2S Cab and have had a blast putting miles on it for the past month. The car is in near-perfect condition and the only body blemishes are in the plastic protective film. It has 2 tiny blisters/air bubbles and a couple of nicks where it appears it took a rock or other road debris. Many may not notice these blemishes but this is my first Porsche and I'd really like to get them fixed. What's the prescribed remedy? Remove the section of damaged film and replace it? I'm in the Mass/NH area. Does anyone on this forum know of a topnotch body guy that they would recommend? The car also has some slight swirling to the paint that I would like to have taken out.

Thanks!
Tim

It depends on the film. Some of them are "self-healing" and nicks will over time level out and fill in. Some, actually probably all, can also be polished. Small air bubbles may also sometimes go away over time, or faster if you stick it with a needle. It all depends on the material and extent of the blemish. Your best bet is to find the installer and have them check it out. If you can't then I would take a needle (not a pin) and stick the worst bubble, as if that works (it probably will) it means your bubbles are solved and the nicks will take care of themselves. Paint swirls you can easily remove with Griot's Machine 4 Polish.

Nicks are results of taking a rock. It won't get better and can't really be fixed.

Bubbled can sometimes be fixed

If they bother you, just replace it. The film is doing what it is designed.

As others have said many times the nicks will self heal. The most small air bubbles go away in time. Parking the car outside in direct sun light on a hot day will help with the small bubbles. No film installations are 100% perfect.

I saw the self healing film demoed, it was scratched with a wire brush, then immediately restored by pouring hot water on it. Don't know how hot.
