Automobile Mag: 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S vs 2015 Porsche 911 GTS

The fact that M-B has created this car is great - competition helps the consumer. I have two Porsches and two Benzes - each have their strengths and each has silly compromises. Ease up a bit and cheer on M-B, if the GT-S is even close to a 911 then we'll get a better 911 next time.

Oh boy.....
"but it’s more difficult to excuse the absence of a true multi-function steering wheel and driver assistance systems such as blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure warning."
Is this a joke?? Get me a Chris Harris review ASAP please. MF steering wheel,,,wow....
Ah, and btw, since these are press cars, i would bet a couple bucks we're actually looking at a Carmine Red GTS, not GuardsRed.
My OCD, sorry!
Anyway, the 911 is the nicer car, much better overall package (2+2), etc. Too bad we're all going turbo...we'll loose that 7800rpm and screaming sound. Clearly dont need these turbos as other "newer" comps have 'em and yet the 991 still competes and wins...(991 GT3 vs MP4, this 991GTS vs AMG GT, ferrari going all V8 turbo, BMW M....arrrrrhhhh, dont even want to go there....)
But i like the AMG sound! 6.3 cars (especially the C63 507) will stay as all time good soundtracks. I'll wait to hear the new 4.0TT sound to judge and perhaps before changing my name to "991GT3_screamer" !

I will personally look at the AMG GT S to replace my c2s next year.
I'm one of the few who love the SLS and enjoy the hooligan-like character of the AMGs, my p31 C63 was a great car which made me laugh all of the time.
I like to have fun and get my adrenaline pumping when I drive my toys, I don't need to drive around with a stick up my a$$ and boast about my car's track prowess--if you're a track guy, then great, but my time is spent on back roads and mountain runs!
I love my 911, but is NOT the only car I can enjoy!
Oh, I like gold Rolexs too (not the DDs, but the gold Subs, Daytona and YM are beautiful watches)

Burning Brakes
You can cram hp brakes and handling into anything. Even a Camaro or a Nissan can "beat" a 911 if you give it enough steroids. But so what? It's so adorable that they're trying so hard though.

the totally remotely controlled home will allow mischief makers here ( or in North Korea, lol,) to " blow up/flood/burn them down " as desired , in the near future

We need to be honest with ourselves that the 911, in its non-GT forms, is becoming much more of a 'GT' car than a pure 'sports' car. Weight increasing, length increasing, interior refinement and amenities increasing, smoother transmissions, etc, etc... The new Merc looks to be a fantastic 'GT' car, heck, it's even named the AMG 'GT', and 90%+ of 911 buyers are buying a GT car, not a pure sports car... Even from an appearance standpoint, it mimicks other GT cars' profiles - 550/575/599/f12, DB9/DBS/Vantage, Jag, etc...

For once I have no words.

^ i think he meant the AMG GT mimics the others. 911 doesn't mimic anybody, its absolutly unique and it seams Porsche are the only one who got the "practice makes good" way. Others keep changing models and design and architecture....911 is and will remain iconic, others will try and build awesome cars, just not unique nor iconic.
