Salesman recently talked about Cayman GT4. When I dug around for engine details, he seemed to be strongly leaning on just a few ponies over the Cayman GTS, if anything.

He said absolutely no way will it get the 9000rpm GT3 engine or anything even close to being like it. Could be a blown 4 banger, though one last hurrah for the flat 6 is still possible in the 981 but both are real possibilities at this point.

While it may finally be allowed to outrun the stripped base model of big brother, it's not going to be even remotely what the GT3 now is.

It's getting the 3.8 911 S engine slightly detuned to 380/390 HP so its just under the 911 S. Most dealers have heard it will manual only but i wouldn't be surprised if PDK is offered to make some money but maybe not. Im sure this is to keep the entry level price down some. This car should outperform the 911 S on the track with mid engine handling and reduced weight over the 911. But with same driver in each car it will not outperform the GT3. Im sure with 380 or so ponies it will beat the 911 S to 60 because it should be at least 2-300 lbs lighter. Wouldn't be surprised if the real times are in the 3.6-3.8 second range. I think this is another reason for manual only as it will make this number a little higher than what could be achieved with PDK. I don't know if Porsche wants to publish a 60 time for this car that beats the 3.8 911.

If Firstporsche is right, I wonder what the price and forced options will be (center locks, ceramics, 20mm lower suspension, etc).

I'd hazard a guess that it will have CL wheels, PASM (with its own tune, i.e not SPASM, but "GT"-PASM in the same sense the GT3 has PASM) probably some additional aero I doubt it will have PCCB as std.

If we are lucky it might even still have a manual tranny ... although *if* it gets a 9A1 engine, it could go PDK only.

If this article is right http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/n...t-the-los.html

Of the 3 vehicles Porsche is going show in LA two are the GTS and one is the Porsche Exclusive Panamera.

In various venues, Porsche has announced that 911 and Cayenne GTS models, as well as the Pamamera Exclusive, will be introduced at LA. I suspect that's all we'll get in the way of new cars. I really don't expect to see GT3RS or GT4 yet. I don't recall a year at LA when they showed more than 3 new models at once.

As a matter of fact, a leak directly from Porsche. https://rennlist.com/forums/991/8396...l#post11754907

I've seen that but I'm still not sure if a Targa GTS will arrive. It's not being announced in LA (as far as we know) unless the completely unexpected happens, but no sources have leaked and all indicators point to the GTS being available in coupe, 4, and cab iterations. MY16 is then around the corner with Geneva being the only remaining auto show which would be too late to announce the car. So I don't see it happening. Finally, there was never a Targa GTS in the 997 series.

Yeah, I'm not saying it'll arrive in time for LA. And it could even be a 991.2 variant.

Also, just because the 997.x didn't have a Targa 4 GTS, doesn't mean one will never exist in future series.
