First post - purchasing decision assistance
First post after long time lurking. I've narrowed down my purchase and would appreciate any advice or input!
Option 1: 2014 c2s cab, 10k miles, CPO, dealer demo (which I suspect means driven by sales manager, loaned out, etc. - would not expect it to have been babied!). ~105k
Option 2: 2012 c2s cab (991), 24k miles, CPO, one prior owner lease, ~90k.
Options are close enough to be considered the same, except that the 2012 has PDCC, 2014 does not.
I'm not wondering if the price is right for the cars based on options, but just looking for advice your advice on which one sounds better based on info above.
2014 is newer, but no PDCC and was 'demo' car - with CPO warranty goes through 2020! 2012 is older car, same style (991), with warranty through 2018 and with PDCC.
Never owned a Porsche and can't wait to take the next step! Thanks for any input

What is the MSRP of the 2014? If properly discounted I would lean towards the newer vehicle.
Drive both, and see if you can even tell a difference with PDCC, I loved my S cab that did not have it, no complaints at all.

Thanks DocMalone. MSRP for each (from sticker) in the low to mid 130k's.

I would take the 2014 hands down and if 105k is the asking price beat them down a little more! I have heard of some PDCC failures and being that the 2012 was the first year of the 991 I would skip it personally! I will be ordering a new Targa myself and it will not be with PDCC either!

One other thing to consider is the warranty time and miles remaining. Depending on how much you drive, this can be a factor.
Another thing to consider is the fact that 2012 model year had 997 as well as 991 Carreras. It adds to the confusion and many potential buyers even dont search for 2012 year when looking for a 991.
Both cars are technically the same though so saving a chunk of change on a 2012 is tempting, if indeed you want to keep/drive it for a long time.
Good luck with your decision.

Thanks Jamgolf. Good point about potential buyers not searching for 2012 if looking for 991.
Our plan is keep it for long time, would not be daily driver, but would not be hesitating to drive at every opportunity!
Forgot to mention that the 2012 is a 'launch car' but don't know how relevant that is.
Any known differences / advancements from 2012 991 launch to 2014? I have done some searching for this but have found nothing significant.

Does the fact that the 2014 was a demo/loaner car raise significant red flags? Mileage on it - around 10k - was put on car in about 6 months.
I would think that warranty through 2020 does away with significant risks from this, but appreciate anyone's input, experiences or advice. Thanks!

The launch car would be made prior to all the kinks getting worked out so having proof of all recalls and software updates being complete ( being a CPO should have you covered) is what to be aware of.
If you plan to keep for several years I agree to go with the 2014.

I'd go with 2014 because it has low mileage and newer.
Both cars have been CPOed, so it shouldn't matter a prior owner lease or a dealer demo. Low mileage wins since older engine is prone to wear and tear.
If you plan to track the car real often, I'd go with 2012 since it has PDCC (though there were reports that PDCC failing at high G cornering). You'll worn both car at the same rate anyway by constant tracking. Depending on your driving enjoyment (tracking or not) and area (mountainous road or not), you don't really need PDCC.

I'd low ball the 2012 a bit and see if they bite. I wouldn't worry at all about 2012 confusion. When it comes time to sell just list it as a 991 and I doubt anyone will get confused. Both should be good because they were CPO'd, but I'd take 24k one owner miles over 10k demo "cold crank hey lets test the power!" miles any day.

I would not worry about anything "mechanical" between these 2 cars. Go with the one you like the most.
Dealer demos are a great way to get a good price on a basically new car with a CPO. My '13 Cayenne Diesel was a dealer demo and I could not be happier.
Have fun!

I had a Boxster S service loaner for a week - 10K on that puppy, and you know service loaners get thrashed to death. It was tight, strong motor, no issues with the manual transmission, and I was quite impressed. If the 911 has PDK there's no worries about over-revs, otherwise you might want to get one of those DME reports.
Otherwise, I'd either buy the 2014 or find another car - skip the 2012, it's overpriced.
