2014 discounts?
What is the current discount for a 2014 Carrera S cabriolet in California sitting on a dealer lot?
Thanks for any info.

It varies widely. In Cali (which I'm sure is a similar market to DC where I live and assuming you're in a big city market like LA or SF) it can range anywhere from 0% to upwards of 10% if you're lucky. I don't think Porsche is in any hurry to sell their MY14s because they know eventually they will sell and supply is always limited. I think you can expect an average of 4-6% if you push but higher than that there would have to be a reason like an unpopular color or options. I just went through this whole process..

In the greater NY area, I don't think 10-12% off a 2014 is realistic. No clue about the Cali market. I do find that much of the guidance on the forum re: discounts is very difficult to replicate or achieve in actual negotiations with a dealer. Just my experience.

I got 10% off just by sending an internet request to a porsche dealership in CT. NY and NJ may be less willing to shell out the discount, but if you travel just outside our region, you can find the right price

Now that we're into September if you're looking for a MY14 you're looking for a leftover nobody else wanted. Some poor sap thinking he's getting a good deal might walk off the lot with it for 10% off. My dealer was trying to sell me a cab S for about 7% off when I placed my order on my car for a MY15. I could understand why it hadn't sold yet (this was about a month ago, not a color I wanted, dealer-optioned, etc.). Needless to say, it's still on the lot (lol) and listed for 10% off MSRP. There's a reason a dealer will discount below market value: because it HAS less market value. Like someone said on this string, the markup for these cars is about 11% (true). So why the heck would a dealer unload a car for 10% off, basically making no profit? You don't need an MBA to figure out you can't stay in business that way. It's because they want to get RID of the car because no one wants it (or at least not many people) and they are incurring ongoing advert and stock fees.
