This is my opinion so if you are in love with a ducktail please get yourself some Duck Tail.
The stock rear spoiler on a 991 is the most pleasing rear spoiler in generations. But when extended it looks abit like a ducktail. So why go to the expense of putting on the classic ducktail? Just curious.
I personally like the look of a static wing which is why I ordered the Aerokit. Now the aerokit is a ducktail AND a wing smooshed together, and I would have actually preferred a wing more like what the GT3 has:
I also don't like the look of the ducktail alone, at least on the 991. I do like it on the older gens, for instance on this:
It is the look I guess which personally like but not sure would spend the money to add. For some reason I trade around a lot but really like the 911 Cab we just bought. The longest I've ever kept a car is one that we still own 73 TR-6 which we've had since 1974. The duct tail is classic looking and brings back memories of ones I used to see on the road in the 60s and 70s
I don't think the spoiler up looks anything like the ducktail. I wish I had ordered the duck - it adds an elegant aggressiveness to the rear end I think without going overboard.

Agree. That's why I had the TechArt spoilers added.
Sorry OG. I have to disagree with you. I think the rear spoiler on my 911/50 is ugly. I would never raise it voluntarily. I goes up at speed and that's it. I would have preferred a fixed wing spoiler. A fixed wing ducktail or whaletail should have been an option. I also think the electric wing on my old 964 was nicer than the 991's. I have it and I'd love to say it was nice but alas, I can't. I also like the idea of no motor and no movable parts.
Why ducktail? One could equally ask why Fuchs? Unlike when each was originally used, there are no performance bennies. I am certain the "stock spoiler is at least as effective, so it seems more a style preference. I think the 991 looks great either way (but like the OP really appreciate the lines with it retracted, enjoy seeing the top when it deploys), and am glad i can't see the hardware view from back of the car when driving!
I have to admit Robert yours is the best I have seen. Is that Porsche or someone elses?
I love the GT3 wing but thats not an option on my car.

Bacura, have you SEEN the lifting of the engine lid on the previous generations? The new design is so integrated and pleasing compared to the old design it was one of the reasons I decided to trade in my 997
