Manual transmission clutch 'feel'

I am wondering how the clutch operation feels on the 7- speed MT. I currently have 1997 993 manual and am contemplating getting a 991 manual. I don't think PDF is for me as I have driven one in a 991. But dealers around me do not have any manuals to try.
Just trying to get an idea if it feels very different or has a very hard clutch to depress which people find tiring, for example. I assume the shift itself is smooth.
Thanks.

I have driven 991 MT (although mine is PDK). If you like your 997 MT you will enjoy the 991 MT. Very similar feel but you get a seventh gear and rev matching (if you get pasm). Still the best MT out there imho.

I had a '97 and a '98 993 as well as a 981S and have driven a 991 MT. Of the four cars, the Boxster S had the smoothest manual I have ever driven - it was pure joy to shift. The 991S I drove had less than 100 miles on it. It was pretty stiff, but many folks here assure me the transmission smooths out between 2 and 3K miles.
i think it is better located than the 993 shifter was but
I have a huge soft spot for 993s. But they're almost 20 years old at this point.

It is great. I came from a 2004 996TT and the clutch is not hard, not soft, really just right. Very easy to shift. Just don't get onto a pdk v. manual discussion on here!!!!

As others mentioned, it's very good. The pedal is stiff, but not so heavy like a 997 GT3 where you wouldn't want to hold it down at a light. The shifter's mechanical feel is second to an S2000, but it's smoother between gears. And the Auto Rev match feature is really, really awesome.

Thanks for all you input!
My 993 targa shifts nicely and the pedal is not too stiff. Just trying to get a feel if the clutch pedal was overly stiff. I am not as young as I used to be when I first started buying 911's (61 now). I do not want a PDK. For me, I still want to shift. Not interested in best lap time or best gas mileage.

You won't be disappointed ... I promise you. I'll buy your 991 ( at half off) if you are not happy... But seriously, it's fantastic.... Very smooth and seem less shifting.
Good luck!

Been driving manuals since I learned to drive many-many years ago.
Love the 991 7-speed MT. Rev-matching is fun & excellent. The tranny does need some mileage to loosen up when new.

Loving mine as well, for the somewhat spirited driving the rev matching makes it a lot smoother process for the passengers as they don't get thrown about so much ...
The clutch is absolutely fine, not much different from my BMW M I had before, but can not compare it to previous Porsches as I never had one before.

I feel the 7MT in my car has shifted beautifully, right from the start.
No issues with the clutch whatsoever - not heavy, very precise, perfect engagement.
My previous C2S (997) was the best shifting car ever in my 35+ years of driving - the 991 shifts equally as well, and far better than any of the 6 BMW's I've had over the years (including E30 M3 and E34 M5). The 4 gates take a little getting used to, but it becomes 2nd nature with time.
