so the big question is; is X51 "worth" it ... if you subtract the $4800 for PSE and Sport Chrono is the performance increment worth $13000 for the 30bhp?

For me it was. And you will NEVER get 30 Porsche proven horsepower with warranty and sans CELs for anywhere near $433.33 per pony.

Totally agree, as well. Great option if you can swing it. Special order here as well.

I've had it on my last 2 911's and will probably get it on the next. It's probably the same dilemma that people have with PCCB, PDDC, Burmester etc. No question, it is better, but is it worth it?

Assuming an individual already wants PSE and SC, it's only another 15K for the X51 pack. If I were tracking my car, I would buy it. It's roughly a 10% premium.

I'm pretty much a luddite performance junkie, so I would perversely spec PCCB but would not spec PDCC, would always spec PSE and more often than not Sport Chrono (where it includes goodies like PDEM and Sport+) but I would never drop all that cash on a stereo or deviated stitching!

So, I'm inclined to spec X51, especially since its only a 13k increment over PSE+SC but I'm wondering if the bhp/torque curve is really usable vs the stock...

I think its +$13k ...$17800 (manual) vs $4800 for PSE+SC

I haven't seen much out there related to dyno or quarter mile times. I wish there was more definitive info on quantifying the output of the extra power. I know Porsche estimates 0.1 second less to 60, but they are notoriously conservative. There was also reference to a random elusive French mag that gave the x51 car an extra 0.2 or 0.3 in the 1/4 mile, but I'm not sure how credible that info is.

I've been hoping the 30 hp was slightly underrated but that may not be the case.

I was going to ask the same question on stock configurations - has anyone dynoed the 3.4L and 3.8L engine?

Does Porsche under report HP and Torque like other manufacturers (MB comes to mind)?

I think Porsche is conservative. That's why I tell everyone who asks, "It has right about 450 HP!"

All Porsche provided engine/performance specifications are the minimum the car has/will achieve. Apparently the German government has legislated that the performance/specification quoted must be met off the showroom floor by every car every time. Given the X50 does not develop full potential until 10k or so (Porsche's specifications) then the 430hp is probably quite conservative at time of delivery. Would really like to find out the real number though.

I interpreted John's comments to mean that the engine does not fully perform until the it is >10k miles; hence if the published dyno is for a zero miles X51 then at 10k miles the dyno will be in excess of the initial one.
