Mondrian,
I just checked the UK site and you are 100% correct - in the UK it looks like you can only get the leather interior, so it always gives you the strip in painted silver. In the US there is an option for partial leather. When you select that, the strips turn black. Check off the full leather for nearly $4000 more and the strips turn silver. Pretty steep for a painted plastic strip...of course you get a whole lot more leather for that money too!

oh that's why...mine is in Hong Kong and I guess it's a semi "UK version" as I didn't have full leather. Maybe Eric can paint that for you...

Are you sure that black piece doesn't pop out? It looks like it might.

Suncoast sells the brushed aluminum trim pieces. I gave them in my car and it looks pretty good.

I was checking with my dealer about that. I thought it might, but don't want to ruin the car trying to pop something out that is not meant to be popped out. If anyone has changed out the trim, let us know!
Also, even if I was able to pop it out, I can't find any place that sells just the door strip in silver. I guess I could switch everything over to bein shed aluminum, but I thought that might be more of a job doing the whole dash trim over...

i prefer the black to the silver, but really wouldn't mine taking the door strip off and having it redone in carrera red leather. same for the coffee cup holder strip.
i think any good auto interior place could do the dash for 1/3 of the porsche price ($1200)

so has anyone popped the door strip off?

Thanks for the bigger pic. Looking at your pic, I guess it still looks pretty sweet - it still is a 911 interior, after all! I just wish there was an easy way to pop the black strip out and pop in a silver one. I think it finishes off the dash line nicely...
It's a really nice interior, and I like more subtle look - I prefer the lack of trim on the doors. I think it would be a bit much for me. But to each his own!

To be honest, I think it would be a downgrade for you if you have the silver stuff...but if you want to trade, we could figure something out!
Thanks...I think I'll pass.

Good luck!
