... and I am filled with anticipation of the pending discussion of hybrid cars WITH a PDK transmission! That should be epic!

I get chills just thinking about it.

Sorry bros. but I must continue to shift in the old fashioned way like the geezer that I am.
I purchased a 997.2 4S pdk cab and after about a week, felt that way. Totally underwhelmed to the point of remembering thinking to myself, this is just silly. Sold the car after three months or so. Really and truly glad to have discovered the 991 manual. Wonder what the future brings..all I know is I don't feel like a passenger in a sports car with a manual. It's nice to drive.

I know just what you mean. As the passenger in a sports car with a manual you have to watch out for your leg getting hit by the shifter. That probably doesn't happen very often when you're driving.

In all seriousness, this is a MT drivers attitude I can get behind 100%. Get it while you can, be happy with it, enjoy it, instead of b****ing about how GT3s and turbos don't have the MT.

PDK is the best tranny for a GT2, GT3 and other race/track cars where the best lap time is the goal. For a DD and/or week-end fun car, nothing beats a three-pedal car IMHO.

These Porsche MT - PDK debates are the best...where else is everyone in an argument right, no matter how subjective or flawed their logic ?! As I noted on the current C2 versus C2S thread... I think it comes down to "fitness for a particular purpose" which is ultimately defined by each individual in their own terms.
Not an issue until one tries to project their values on another.

Not sure if that sounds "Libertarian" or "Socialist"...yikes!

I'm having this debate with myself right now. I would have never considered a PDK but driving it back to back with a MT was... Interesting. I have shifted (no pun intended) from a never in a million years to at least thinking about it. Luckily, I don't have much longer to decide. My wife thinks I should join the modern era, but...

You should join the modern era with a 7 speed MT. Driving an automatic/tiptronic/SMG/PDK is not as much fun in a sports car as the MT. Regardless of what they call or or what's happening behind the scenes, you're still just mindlessly putting it in drive having the car shift for you or using flappy paddles to change sequentially. At least for me, the paddles got old after 5 minutes and isn't rewarding at all

Not as much fun for YOU. I've followed these impassioned MT/PDK discussions with some amusement since I first came on here. Thinking about it this morning, I've been driving standard transmissions (starting with motorcycles) for 44 years. I took our 500 hp turbo car out last night for the first time since snow started falling last year and really enjoyed the drive. However, never once did I think about what gear I was in. I guess after 44 years driving a MT it is well...automatic.

Quick Reply: In a few years we will not be discussing PDK vs MT.
